Insurance Settlement Question

A few weeks back our 09 Jay Flight 24' RKS was stolen from where it was stored. My question is I live in Oklahoma and my insurance company tells me due to the regulations here that they have to hire J.D. Powers & Associates and they determine the value of my camper. Has anyone had any dealings like this. I have been searching for information on this but haven't had any luck. Thanks in advance for any answers.

Ours was stolen last year and they used the KBB appraisal. I didn't worry too much about it as it was new, financed and thankfully I had gap insurance so it was a push go me either way. I was out the deductible from the camper as well add the homeowner's claim for the contents. Overall the whole event was a huge pain in the butt and set me back about two grand. I can't stand thieves.

Insurance carriers using outside vendors to determine a vehicle's value seems to be pretty common, although I do not know if it is a "state requirement" or not. I would want to have a copy of the adjuster's worksheet showing how they presented your unit as to equipment, condition, etc to make sure it accurately reflected your TT. Most of these databases are extensive and should be fairly accurate. You can also check the internet for retail prices on similar trailers as a cross check.

That's a great point, they should give you the adjustment sheet - look it over carefully to be sure all options are listed - for example television, stabilizers, etc are often left off.
