Insurance value ?

Hi I was wondering if anyone could tell me why my Jayflights value would be less than a comparative floorplan coachmen catalina. According to insurance and probably nada values my jayflight is $ 4,000.00 less than the same year coachmen catalina.
If anything I would have thought the Jayco would be valued more. Thanks

What does insurance value mean anyway? Bank values for that matter too.

Today I completed a private party deal on a used '12 29QBH. The bank valuation was 23,400, the insurance valuation was 21,200...paid nowhere near either of those numbers. Both of them went through the list of standard equipment and options with me, so they had an accurate representation of the TT.

By the way, we shopped new 2014s in this floor plan. New this floor plan would be a ~$23k trailer -- so I really have no idea where banks and insurance companies get there valuations.

When we were shopping over a year ago the coachmen 32bhds was very similar in price as the jayco 32bhds although jayco offered more options which we have on our trailer and that pushed the msrp up more than the coachmen we looked at.

I found out a few months ago when we inquired about trading our trailer that the trade in value was almost half of the msrp and that was very disappointing. Needles to say if we decide to change models we will sell ours privately.

Anyway just curious about the values for the two different brands after being used.

Here's some additional insurance info to consider beyond pricing:

When towing and "hitched" to the truck, the auto policy can cover you because you are hitched if you get in an accident and damage the camper.

Here is the big one. When you "un hook" at the campground you are no longer hitched to the truck... Ask your insurance agent these questions.

If my camper catches fire and is a total loss in a campground when unhitched, will you get a full payout? Will you get anything?

In the campground unhitched from the truck and your LP tank explodes and catches the camper next to you on fire or the potty house... who covers the damage your camper caused?

I know those may be extreme examples but this is part of the bigger difference among some auto policy riders over an RV policy. You may not have any coverage if you unhook in a campground. Ask your agent.
