Jay Flight 22fb Sleeping jackknife
Hi,
Total noob here. The DW and I are going to look at a 2014 22rb soon. The jackknife sofa looks like it is kinda short for extra sleeping room. What length is it and what length is the dinette sleeping area?

I believe the 22FB uses the same sofa and dinette as my 21QB. I can't measure it right now but I can give you my observations.
At 6'1" I could sleep on either for a cramped one night. Very cramped.
Which is why we went with the 21QB. It places the dinette across from the sofa. With a small support a queen air bed fits across. Not ideal but we only occasionally have adult guests.
We also prefer having leg room the full length of the sofa and having all the living space together. I guess the DW likes talking with me even after all these years.

I'm 6-1 as well. I was looking to be able to sleep 3-4 guys for 3-4 day fishing trips once a year or so.

I've slept in far worse situations on fishing trips.
Loser gets the dinette, winner the bed. Three guys with agreeable dispositions could have a great trip. Plan on spending most time outside under the awning. Four guys fit but two are sharing the queen bed. Sleeping bags help in that situation.
Will you have full hookups or boondocking?

Most every trip would be Elec. hookup-dry camping. The shower houses are close and are very clean. Most time is spent outside fishing, cooking and eating.

We have a Starcraft 235fb, which is a twin to the Jayco 22fb.
Our daughter (at about 5 foot 8 inches) would sleep on the Jacknife sofa. She would take a tote and put it at the end of the sofa (near the door) to add extra length. Also, we would put a memory foam topper over the sofa. It still wasn't great, but it worked.
For anyone taller than that, I doubt it would be even close to comfortable.
And the dinette sleeper is even worse, because you are literally confined to the length between both of the backrests of the dinette seats (which isn't much, although I don't know the exact length). The 22fb is a great small camper for a couple, with an occasional 3rd person. (which is how we use it and really like it) But I would never consider it for anything more than that.

I don't see how it would help because there is an arm on the end of the jack knife sofa.. is there less length on the dinette and there is at the jackknife?

My jack knife sofa has removable arms. The dinette is shorter

Also planning on looking at a Starcraft launch 24rls ultra light. Not too keen on the "lightweight" frame. I assume it has one like the ultralight jaycos. Heck, it only is rated to carry less than 500#'s after you get the tanks full.

The Jayco sofa is short, even with the arms removed. The dinette makes up at a reasonable length.

Our jack knife sofa has no arms at all on it. The tote gets put at the end with a rolled up blanket or something else to bring it to the level of the rest of the sofa. Then the memory foam topper goes over the whole thing (sofa and tote).
I'm not sure about other people's dinette's, but the space in ours is VERY short and no way an adult male could sleep there comfortably unless they always sleep curled up in a fetal position.
