Jay flight 28bhbe or jay flight swift 287bhbe

Really like these two jayco trailers any feedback on these units would greatly be appreciated.

Only feedback I can give is that I got into both models at the dealer...and found the JayFlight to have a nice finish, nicer features....

Hence why I purchased the JayFlight

You just have to decide if you want the extra the Jay Flight provides over the swift.

For me it's a yes. Typically one $2-$3k difference; want extra windows, thermostat controlled AC, larger fridge, hydraulic rams on the under bed storage, ability to carry more fresh water, power vent in bathroom, etc.

What are the differences worth to you.

The real question is, "Do you plan to dry camp?"
I didn't think it was worth the extra money for the heavier 28BHBE. I couldn't see enough difference for the price. After having it for a half season, we found out we like boondocking much more than parks(it's our first camper). The tiny fresh and grey tanks don't go very far with 5 people. It's going to cost me a pretty penny to have bigger custom tanks installed. I'm sick of the 7.5 gallon totes already.

I don't know what kind of prices are out there, but at the dealership I went, the Swift was only 1500$ less than the upscale JayFlight. The choice wasn't hard to make...yes heavier but way better features and more suited for our needs.

Every 28BHBE we saw was optioned out, so the difference was closer to $5K. I didn't want the electric awning everyone complains about, the overpriced TV, etc. I couldn't wait on a factory order due to personal issues I'm not willing to discuss.

Everyone has different factors for their decision. The best thing is to get as much info as possible to make it as informed as possible.

My 28BHBE is fully loaded with options, and it's price was only 1500 more than the less equiped Swift... to me I couldn't make a point at spending 1500 less for something that had so many features out. Plus the inside look wasn't what we liked...


But like you said, everyone has its opinions, tastes and needs.

I was in the same dilemma and decided on the Swift.

We went with the 28BHBE, but it wasn't a snap decision. Aside from some minor differences, they are functionally close enough for us. From a strictly utilitarian standpoint, we viewed them as virtually identical for our intended usage pattern. Tank size didn't matter because we didn't intend to boondock, and so far we have not been to a park without sewer service. The thermostat wasn't that important to our decision (but maybe should have factored), large fridge is nice but not totally necessary, I could install rams under the bed if I wanted to, I wouldn't call that little fan in the bathroom a selling point, and windows in the slide are nice but not a deal breaker.

Some of the items that made the decision for us were; the higher-end feel, the solid shower door, power jacks (esp tongue jack), power awning (we have no complaints and have had no problems at all), included TV, and the relatively small price difference between the units. These items coupled with some of the others from above kind of drove us to the 28BHBE.

Also, there was the subjective "feeling" factor. When logic has played out and you're still on the fence, go with what you feel. DW walked out of one and into the other 3-4 times, and the decision was made. I would have been happy with either one, so I'm all good.
