You are correct in running antifreeze through the complete system, - hot water heater. It only takes a tablespoon of water to freeze in one of our plastic fittings to really mess up your first camping trip of the New Year.
Now I don't blow out my lines but what I do just before I leave for home after my last trip of the year is open my low point drains and all the faucets (8) and that drive home just about drains every drop out of the lines .
I also don't have to pour antifreeze into the Ptraps because when I'm filling my lines with the pink stuff I let it run for about an extra 5-7 seconds from the faucets ( that fills the Ptraps) and I'm done.
