Jay Flight G2 29bhs - 800lb tongue

We have ordered a new Jay Flight. The dry tongue weight is 800lbs. We are wondering if others with the same model have used the 1000lb WDH succesfully or if we should go ahead with the 1200lb capicity wdh we will have *two* batteries along with the 30lb propane tanks filled, plus the "stuff" we will store in the front storage.

Does your weight distributing hitch have a tongue weight limit? If not, the 10,000 lb. weight distributing hitch you have should be quite sufficient to pull your new trailer which is rated at 7,500 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight. The GVR is the total weight of your trailer dry (5,475 lbs.) plus the total weight of all cargo your can carry (2,025 lbs.). Even though you will be carrying the weight of the two batteries and two filled propane tanks, the cargo you carry behind the trailer's wheels will act as a counterbalance to this tongue weight.

The dealer put on a hitch we didn't pay for. Also, it was not installed correctly! We had a private party adjust this Huskey hitch and it added 1 1/4" to the back and lowered the front an additional 1/4". We still have probs. OUr dealer who is in Calif has told us that he will install the Equalizer that we payed for once we returned to Calif (we picked the unit up from his dealership just a few blocks down from the factory in Indiana). We are learning that with the 29bhs g2 at 800lbs empty(no tanks, batteries, or stowed stuff) might just be toooooo heavy for the max tow Ford F150 that can easily tow the 7500 lb GVWR!

It sounds like the problem is the hitch. Once you have a proper weight distribution hitch properly installed the F150 should easily tow the G2 29bhs.

We are towing a 2010 G2 29RLS with a 2007 Chevrolet 1/2 ton that has a 6 litre gasoline engine and a heavy duty trailering package. It is rated to tow 10,300 lbs GVR and it can easily tow our trailer, which is rated at 9,000GVR, with a weight distribution hitch.

Will your California dealer's Indiana facility where you picked up your trailer not install the equalizer (weight distribution) hitch you have already paid for? It may be dangerous for you to tow the new trailer without the proper hitch.

Wow! I looked up the hitch weight on that trailer..... it's 965lbs dry. Ours dry is 800. What WDH did you buy? Our current one is a Huskey and we have sinced learned that there should be two sway control bars instead of just the one that came with it for a TT longer than 24'. Apparently the Equalizer WDH has a four point system that accomodates both sides. Also, currently, our front end doesn't come down enough to make our towing completely safe. We had it adjusted on the road once all ready, but will play with it some more before we leave for the next leg of our trip.

Yes, the dealer will replace the hitch with the Equalizer hitch
