Jay Flight SLX 212QBW Boondocking Tips?

Hi All,

Growing up my family had a pop up and we loved it. Once I was grown I fell in love with tent camping, but the old lady wanted to look into travel trailers, so we are now the proud owners of a 2017 SLX 212QBW. We can't wait to get out in it this summer!

Most of the trips we have booked so far are either full hookup or at least electric hookup. We love the state parks in the Adirondacks though, which unfortunately don't have electric hookups. So that leads to my question, do any of you have any tips for boondocking for 3-5 days at a time? Don't see us using much but running some lights at night time, but would the battery be enough to do that?

I was going to convert to LED lights and was looking at potentially getting some sort of solar. Any tips on what I would need?

Thanks in advance!

I have a small solar battery charger I picked up at Harbor freight, about 12 bucks. I can move the panel to keep it in the peak sun. I did 5 days with it with no problems. We are also big believers in portable lights that have solar cells on them (goal zero). Charge them all day and put 3-4 in the rig and we do not use the internal lights.

BTW, I have 2016 212qbw and mine came with all LED. I'm surprised yours didn't. We

Thanks for the reply! Guess I should have mentioned that I actually don't pick it up until Monday, just was getting excited so I figured I would ask now. It very well could come with LED's - just didn't see it mentioned anywhere.

Upstater88,

We also have the 212QBW and love it. We did 9 days at Grand Teton National Park last summer dry camping. We have a group 31 deep-cycle battery. Even with that we needed to run our 2000 Watt champion generator every evening to keep the battery topped off. We also have a blue tote we had to use once to empty the grey tank. You may be able to make 5 days if you are careful with your water use. We took advantage of the grey water sinks they have for dumping dish water.

Have fun.
