Jayco Eagle 324BHDS - Equal-i-zer Hitch Size

Hi,

Went to an RV show today and really liked this model. Anybody towing this model w/ an Equal-i-zer hitch? If so, what size hitch and bars do you use, and how does it perform? Any feedback about this model trailer?

Mike

Sorry, don't know if this helps but the hitch on our tt weighed about 1000lb when all was said and done so we asked for a 1200lb Equalizer hitch. We had some probs recently due to the fact that the installer didn't adjust the disc in the ball hitch correctly which ultimately had our brackets fail. The driver side bracket actually cracked.

I can tell you though this is an awesome hitch. You can back up without having to dismantle, and we travel 65-70 mph (in states out of Calif) with very little to no sway even when a big rig passes at 80mph! Hopes this helps

I have a similar TT and I use a reese dual cam. Just completed a trip to Florida from NY and had a real enjoyable tow. No sway just some push as the bigger boys passed us. I use 1200lb bars.

Mike,

If you decide to go with an equalizer hitch I have a gently used Reese dual cam equalizer that I took off a Jayco tt that I sold. You can send me a private message if you like and we can exchange contact information. I live in Austin, too.

I had the equal-i-zer with my 324BHDS. It had the 1200# bars. I had trouble getting it set properly and we had a 6000 mile trip ahead of us out west. So I ended up with the ProPride 3P hitch. It is awesome! I do not reget spending the money on it one bit. With its design there is no sway.

The 324BHDS is an awesome design, esp if you have kids. Although when the kids can't come camping, we enjoy hanging out in the bunk room. We go the J-cube as it can be a sofa or a bed. Having two slides makes all the difference in roominess.

I've got an original Equal-i-zer hitch (from Progress Mfg.) now (1000#/10000#) and I love it. It was easy to setup and adjust (recently moved it over to the new truck). I was just wondering how it performed on a longer, heavier trailer like this (as we really like this model), and which size most folks used that have this size or similar sized trailer, as you can get it in the 1200#/12000# or 1500#/15000# sized hitch.
