Jayco Swift 184BH Stop Lights

Can anyone tell me how to access the wiring for the tail lights on a Jayco 184BH SLX? My passengers side stop light has no voltage on the wire for the stop light. The bulbs were swapped and are good, the running lights work fine as do the directionals and the drivers side stop light works. From inside the trailer it looks like I may have to remove panels behind the toilet to gain access to the wires. Is there a way to snake a new wire from one stop light to the other without taking the rear of the trailer apart? Short of a return trip to the dealer, any ideas?

I don't know what kind of TV you have but my 2005 Dodge Ram and 1999 Chevey Z71 both have fuses under the hood that are dedicated for the left and right trailer stop lights, these fuses don't effect the TV stop lights. i had that happen before and foung the fuse for the left trailer stop light was blown.

Hey Bruce - I am assuming since it is a swift, it is new and you are within your warranty. I know it is a pain, but I would get it back tho them and let them take care of it.

Thanks for the quick replies Manny and Terry. The TV is a Nissan Frontier 4wd and I don't think it has separate fuses for trailer lights. I added an after market wire harness to the TV for the trailer lights. The trailer lights are wired in parallel with the truck lights and the truck signals are fine. I think I will have to take the 2012, 184BH Swift SLX back to the dealer, 140 miles from here. I have only had the trailer 2 days now and that single stop light is the only problem. I suspect a poorly crimped wire in the harness.

Bruce,

If your using a 7-pin connector, I would also check your pin connections.

Stop light issue.

It looks like Bob is correct. I checked my vehicle 7 pin connector with a volt meter and no lamp voltage on right side blade connector when brake peddle pushed down, even though tow vehicle brake lights are on.
I first added an after market 4 way converter harness to the TV to pull a small box trailer. This 4 way harness plugs into the Nissan existing wiring for the tail lights. I added the 7 way connector harness per instructions and all works except the right side brake lights on the Jayco. The 4 way harness can't seem to separate the right brake and right turn signals which share a common blade on the 7 way connector. So I am still stumped on how to get a right side brake light, but glad the fault was not my new Jayco 184BH:drooling:

Bad tee harness on Tow Vehicle.

The problem turned out to be an after market tee harness on the TV which went bad after many years. Jayco 184BH is perfect and we love it!
