this TT have a rear kitchen , friends told me to avoid rear kitchen, apparently the ride is really rough on the cupboards and whats in it ?

So what is your experience with a rear kitchen ? thanks guys

We have a 2015 26RKS and have had no issues with items in the cabinets. We have the Mor-Ryde suspension also, which is supposed to offer a better ride.

I drug a rk all over west Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico for 5 years.
Never had an issue with cabinets nor contents.

We had a 256RKS that we loved. Lots of good storage in the pantry and never and issue of jumbled cabinets. One thing we really liked was the open space directly into the trailer from the kitchen door that was good for storing chairs and such for travel.

I also have the 25.6RKS No problems with the kitchen being in the back, I find it easier to load the food into. It is right at the door.

My last 2 have been RKS. No problems to speak of. We do pack the cupboards so items are reasonably secure. It's very convenient having an entry door at the kitchen since that's a common in-and-out area. The RKS floor plans usually have the sofa and dinette seating across from each other which is something we insist on. Salesman told me they're big sellers in the PNW but not the rest of the country so the RK floor plans often get discontinued quickly.

Our last trailer was a Rear Kitchen and we had no issues with things getting bounced around. Just like anything else, if you load your trailer right, it should be fine.

Any concerns with stuff bouncing around in a cabinet can be cured with a clean bath towel stuffed in as a filler.

My TT has the kitchen just ahead of the axles. During the July 4 return trip, a can of beans (amongst other things) escaped from the top shelf, punctured itself on the upside-down boot brush and proceeded to leak sauce up-and-down the area between the kitchen and bathroom.


It make no difference where the kitchen is. How you pack the shelves, make sure the doors are secure and how you drive are the real factors minimizing messes during travel.

We have a 26rks and we used to have a TT with the kitchen in the middle, I don't notice things bouncing around any worse in the rks. Like already has been said it's how you pack it.

I just picked up my new 29rks a week ago, I've only pulled it about 80 miles to get it home from the dealer. I had to order this one from the factory because the dealership never had any in stock. I asked the salesman why none in stock and he said they don't bring them in because people don't like the floor plan because of the reasons that you gave.I've had rear kitchens before and if packed proper, I've never had a problem. Love this floor plan. I notice that the axles are set quite a ways back ,so I'm thinking that helps a bit with controlling the bouncing in the back too. Order it and enjoy !

We have a 26RKS, no issues with the rear kitchen as compared to one on the side. As others have posted, it's all about how you pack and drive.

We just bought one 2 weeks ago. We are planning a long trip in the next couple weeks. So far no issues of things bouncing out. We also stuff towels and blankets in cabinets. (We came fro a popup that we offroaded with a lot) As far as none in dealer stock, my dealer said not many were in stock because of the sleeping capacity. Most people have a lot of kids and toys. Our TT will be our home in the near future.

Mom and Dad bought a 2015 29RKS this summer. They managed to do several hundred miles of travel with it and I heard of no complaints of things moving around in the cabinets.

If its in the budget and its not standard and you don't often use FHU sites, get the elite package. The extra water is very nice. They can go a whole week on what their camper holds. The mor ride is supposed to help with ride quality and the sky light really helps bring the light in even with the tinted windows.

One thing I would suggest is to take a close look when picking up the unit. My BIL found that the picture window interior trim was not installed correctly. Two of the screws were outside the holes in the trim piece. I suspect that the window hole was not cut correctly and this was the only way to "cover it up" from the factory. The outside looks fine, just the inside is a little off, and I had never noticed it until this past weekend.

We bought a 29RKS this spring. Love the floor plan, no issues with things moving around in the cupboards any more than any other trailer we have had. Biggest thing is to open the fridge door slowly after you arrive. We too have the Mor Ride suspension.

We have the 2016 Elite model, love the 80 gallon fresh water capacity. I believe some things have changed in 2017 models but can't remember what off the top of my head.

We also like the curved shower and have not had any issues so far with the trailer. Fit and finish is nice. I did notice a rattle in the furnace this past weekend and will be checking that out in a couple of days.

We just returned from a 2500 mile towing trip that included some rough paved roads and some dirt forest roads, no problems with stuff moving around any more than a side kitchen. (Eagle 316RKDS) Do make sure the stove vent is closed from the outside if you are going down a dirt road, it will suck in the dust. (my mother learned that the hard way when I was a kid)
