Jayflight 30BHS BW&GW tank issue

Hey guys- my husband and I just got our Jayflight on site (full time RV-ing)
We got the city water hooked up and were running the sinks and stuff to clean out the lines, and went outside to check the tanks-
Thank god we did, too, because it was draining.

The cap doesn't have a good seal which was my first thought of what was wrong, but then I realized that the switch that closes it wasn't working properly. (And now realize the cap is not SUPPOSED to have a water tight seal)

So. Help?

Sounds like your valves are not closed (just to be super clear, pushed in completely is closed). In your picture, you show only the black tank valve (next to the sewer line in your picture). I know this may be a dumb question, but have you checked to see if your grey tank valve is closed?

If they are both fully seated closed and still leaking, welcome to the club. It took the dealer a few tries over a year to get my black tank valve replaced (multiple times) before it stopped leaking. What most will do in the meantime is buy one of these that go on where the cap is on the outlet - https://www.amazon.com/Valterra-T58-...valterra+valve

The cap on the outlet should hold all of the contents behind it and be a really good seal. You said it was not on yours, so I would verify it has an o-ring on the cap and that it is locked on all the way. It's hard to tell from your picture but I can't tell if the cap is completely turned clockwise until it is locked.

Welcome to the forum.

That doesn't look like a OEM cap! It is a new trailer?

There should be gate valves that close the gray and black tanks 'upstream' of the exit; one gate valve for the gray tank and different gate valve for the black tank.

Most gate valves slide open and closed with a 't' handle like you show in the photo, not with a switch.

Hope that helps.
