Jensen Stereo Swap?

Wondering if anyone has swapped out the Jensen stereo unit for a quality set up. My 2012 Jayco Eagle has the Jensen AW975 model.....the one with the large black face plate. Playing a CD or watching a DVD, you get a motor rumble that is constant and can be easily heard over a quieter selection.

If you changed one out...what manufacture/model did you use?

How did you cover the large opening that the Jensen unit would leave?

How did you accommodate the wiring for the A, B, C selection of speaker choices?

Any other suggestions.....thanks.

If it's still under warranty, why not take it in and either get it repaired or get the unit replaced?

Sounds like a warranty issue. Ours is whisper quiet.

If you want to change it out you could find a panel from somewhere within the TT, that you can utilize. For example if you have a false panel under your sofa, and if it has a skirt, you will never see that it has been removed.

LBF, I have the Jensen AWM970 series in my 2012 Eagle 320 RLDS. Had trouble with DVD player not working, called Jensen and found out, not only do you have a full 2 year warranty, [in accordance with Jayco], plus you have a 90 day grace period after that as well. Call them, they were very helpful and courteous. You can find the # on line @ Jensen.com

I would like to replace the outside speakers with something better. They sound very 'tinney' and have no 'depth' to the way they sound.
The problem is they are surface mount and not recessed into the wall. The wall is only about 1,25" think and not deep enough for a recessed speaker without going totally through the wall.

I sent an email through the Jensen site and received this reply stating much the same thing. I also asked if I could upgrade to the new Bluetooth model. I'll talk to my dealer tomorrow.

"Hello Don,

Thank you for contacting ASA Electronics. If the manufacturer of your RV is Jayco, the warranty for the radio would follow Jayco’s 2 year warranty. With our warranty, we would change out the unit for the same unit, we do not have a program to change or upgrade models. You would need to contact your closest Jayco dealership to process warranty on the unit."

They will be far better than whats there now. I picked the Pioneer based upon frequency responce and it was a good choice. Its amazingly better while watching a DVD movie.

LBF, I was told by Jensen that the AWM975 replaced the AWM970, which is what I have in my 2012. You actually have the upgraded version. I guess what I'm trying to say is maybe you got a bad unit [AWM975] and they will replace it no charge. It shouldn't have any" humming" at all, mine doesn't. Just a thought.
