ok, now that I can go home at midnight (I am currently at work) to check the fridge, I have to figure out how to get in the camper!!!

Is this really happening?

Partner in crime locked the keys in the camper.

Any suggestions anyone?????

Oh no!

My parents took the camper at the beginning of the month and my Dad got locked out. Luckily my Mom was still inside and could open the door. I'm assuming your locks are like mine. Even though the door is locked you can still open it from the inside by pulling the handle. Once you go outside and the door closes then it's locked. My house is the same way and I hate it!

We ended up calling Jayco after that had had multiple duplicate keys made. My parents have a set of every key, my brother and his family have a set of every key and so do I.

I know it doesn't help you now, but I bought a key lanyard that I keep around my neck the whole time so I have no fear about being locked out. It even gave me a funny sunburn on the back of my neck this past weekend while camping at the beach. lol

Good luck!

Most trailer J keys are they same they will open any storage compartment. My trailer has storage access under the bed shimmy in the compartment raise the bed and wala inside the unit...I have opened many a compartment with my keys for fellow campers.

Our dealer has a master key for our trailer, as long as the dead bolt is not locked they should be able to open it for you. Nominal charges likely would apply.

Suggest you try what rheyco said... I believe the keys are 751 keys. Do you know anyone who has a TT who can loan you a key so you can get into the storage area?

That's a great idea if your storage goes into the trailer, on my 228 the full storage area does not have entry into the bed area to get in, but I do have the storage door that is my 3rd bunk at the back, so the kids can sneak in and unlock the door, not sure I'd fit so easily. Small door, large man, anyway just my 2 cents.

Extra keys in TV

I always keep an extra set of keys in the TV. (Of course that doesn't help if the TV is somewhere else.)

But I'm worried now, my trailer is at the storage yard so I can't just check.
Is it possible to close the door with it locked? Is this common on all Jayco's?
I was under the impression I had to unlock it to get out and then had to lock it from outside with the key.

Going in through a compartment may be your best bet. Finding a small yet capable kid is helpful for these types of things too. When camping, I always keep a spare set of camper keys in the truck and a spare set of truck keys in the camper. At home, all the spares are hanging up on the key holder.

You can always pay a kid standing around $5 to crawl in for you...
Always need a PLAN B... I have extra keys in my truck somewhere for all my locks.

They also make a wireless key entry thing - Just push a remote thumper on your keyring..
Some have keypads installed at the front door... whatever you billfold can aford hehe...

Also a good sturdy flat head screw driver will fit between the door jam and the wall and since everything is aluminum is will bend right out and let you pull the door open and then it bends right back in place like it never happened.

On my POPUP you just reach the inside door handle by slipping your hand through the VELCRO flap holding up the door. I can do this faster when I am carring in grocercies and cant reach into my pocket for the keys.

Sorta scary how fast someone can get into these trailers if they want to...

I always keep a spare in the truck just in case. Have had to use the laundry chute once. The door has two locks, the deadbolt can not be closed if locked, the other can.

We never lock the door with the key unless we are outside. That solved it for us.

You don't even need a key for the outside storage compartments, any key or flat blade screwdriver will open them. I do not know your trailer layout, but if there is access to the inside of the trailer from an outside storage door I would suggest that is your best bet. Good luck.

I have one of these hidden on my frame.

Also, I have to agree with Jeff - any key will open the outside storage compartments. I grabbed my padlock key by accident and was suprised when it opened the compartment.

Thanks for all the help and threads.

Locksmith came out and jimmied it in about 70 seconds flat.

Didn't want to wreck the lock mechanism before the camping trip.
Besides, that was just one of about 6 things that went to crap before we got to the State Park. hahahaha

Will now separate the keys for future lock outs.
