Leaking Black Water Tank ?

Hello,

I have a 2005 29BHS that I noticed a slow drip coming from the holding tank cap.

I have owned this trailer for about 5 years and have never really tried to clean the tank.

I suspect the valve may not be closing all the way due to debris.

I an now looking at getting a flush type tank rinser that connects between the RV drain pipe and hose.

Any advice or suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

Not sure if this would work in your situation, but I had a small leak at one of my gate valves so I added an additional valve at the end which also gave me the additional benefit of increasing the usable capacity of my 2 gray water tanks.

If you are talking about one of these, it might work if your drain pipe is fairly level and in line with the problem gate valve. However, if you have a lot of bends or a vertical rise in the pipe, it may not be very effective. If it does reach the valve, you will probably need to clean it several times since you have never really cleaned the tank. The other item is the wand that is mentioned in the attached video. I have one of those and they work very well in cleaning the tank. Good luck!

I would think if it is leaking at the cape it is a valve problem. To not repair the valve could lead to a backup of the line. It is not a fun job but if the valve is leaking it is sticking open or something is wedged and may cause a backup. I would flush the tank as best I could. Then remove the valve and see if it needs to be replaced. Good luck
