Leaky propane OPD valves- lesson learned!
Hello everyone,
Just wanted to share a fix.
My trusty 01' 29BHS had one propane valve that leaked a tad when I would hook it up. I could mess with it and get it to seal off and on but it was a crap shoot, and not a comfortable one at that. I started researching if I could replace an o-ring, rebuild the valve, etc. I am generally a fix it guy so it seemed simple to do. As the winter passed I then discovered tank #2 having the same issue, and soon I couldn't get either hose to seal up, even with new hoses.
All of my net research was leading me to believe I needed to simply buy new 30lb tanks from Lowes for roughly $65 each. Seemed like a waste.
Long story longer, I found a local propane shop that replaced both valves, re-certified both tanks, and filled them for a tad over $100.
So if yours start leaking/seeping, hunt around for a local shop that will replace just the valve. The valve itself was only $19.95.
Northwest Propane here in Lewisville, TX took care of mine and I am all tuned up for hopefully another 10 years of use!
Just thought I would share!
Greg
