Leaving Battery Connected w/Shore Power

Over the summer, I left my TT plugged into shore power with the battery connected between camping trips. Is it ok to leave it like this over the winter or would it be a better idea to disconnect the battery? Isn't leaving the battery connected w/shore power essentially the same as connecting it to a charger?

It should be fine. Just check to ensure your batteries are topped off with distilled water. It is exactly how I did this. I eventually had to replace the converter with a 3 stage version that didn't over charge the batteries but even a single state one is ok.

Check the fluid level in the battery once each month. If the battery plates get exposed to the air, the battery will be harmed. This is no different than during summer months, but in the winter may be forgotten.

Your 2013 Trailer should already be equipped with a smart mode converter/charger. With the older trailers using single mode 13.6VDC converter/chargers this has always been a concern the battery leaving connected over a longer period. The 13.6VDC is right on the edge of boiling out your battery fluids. Like said here by others I would check the battery fluids on a regular basis over the winter months just to be be sure. A fully charged battery should not freeze over the winter months...

I leave my two trailers connected to the garage 120VAC receptacles here in northern Virginia 24/7 when not on the road.
