LED light strip question.

I just finished installing an LED light strip under the awning on our 29BHS.
The question I have for others who have installed these: How close (or how far away) can you operate your remote? I need to hold our remote within a foot of the receiver antenna wire in order for ours to work. Is this normal ???

I haven't installed the LED lights yet, BUT had the same problem with the IR remote. I solved the problem by purchasing a MuchBuy Mini RF RGB LED Controller with Wireless Remote Control for 5050 3528

The range is now about 25-30 ft. The cost was less than $15 on ebay.

Mine receiver is sticking out of the outside fridge cover. No issues up to at least 20 feet. It is also protected from the weather inside of there.
