Leveling - One or both axles?

All,

I have seen conflicting videos and read conflicting advice in regards to leveling the TT side to side. Do I need to put leveling blocks under both axles or just one?

Thanks

I put boards under both axles on the low side. Don't want to have one with less than the other. Might not be a problem to only do one but I choose to do both.

To me common sense said both, but while looking at different videos and articles some we're doing just one. Thanks for the replies.

It depends. I use lynx levelers which give you about an inch of lift per level of blocks. If I don't quite need a full inch I will go with one fewer under one axle so I don't quite get the full lift.

We also do both using Lynx, just picked up another set about a month ago on an Amazon lightening deal. Would not want to have the entire weight of the TT (including the weight of the unsupported axle and people walking around) on a single axle.

I have always put levelers under both but recently saw an advertisement for some new gadget that you could use on one....I am not sure I would use it because of the stability issue

I use a leveling block under 1 wheel, the rear is still on the ground so it is still stable.

It depends on how much leveling I need.

If I use one block under one axle I get ½ the amount of lift as if I use one block under both axles. So buy using different amount of blocks I get different amounts of lift. Unless there is a hole or a bad slope, I avoid having more than a one block difference between the two axles. I have never noticed a difference is stability between which tire I place the single block under. I can get the TT extremely level this way. Also, have found when the slide is extended I get a little bit of drop on that side of the HTT, so I also plan for that in my leveling.

In our experiences with the State parks, the camp sites are somewhat level. I can easily see at least 1 lift block.. Both Joe and Jagiven do make sense with their suggestions.. I guess I am just going to have to set it up and try out different combinations to see what works best for me. Obviously if I see that I need 2 or more blocks and one of the wheels are lifting off the ground then both need blocks for sure... Thanks again for sharing... You guys have been a lot of help..

If we stop for just a few days I level one axle. For longer stays I do both.

It depends on the amount of leveling needed. I use Lynx Blocks. But I always balance the axles with not more than one difference. Many times one block under one axle does the job. Stability has never been an issue. My X-Chocks contribute the most in regards to stability.

For the extra 6 seconds it takes why not do both?

I am of the "both" camp myself. I only asked because I had seen conflicting information and wanted to get the real low down as it were from others with real world experience..

Seann45, if you add more blocks than needed then the other side of the trailer is now high. It is not about the extra 6 seconds, it is about having a level trailer.

As others have said it depends on how much lift you need. I use 1 1/2 inch blocks so I keep my axles no more than 1 1/2 different from one to the other. So if I need to go up 1 1/2 inches they each get 1 block if I need say 2-2 1/2 one axle gets 2 and the other gets 1 block.

How do you chock the wheels on the side with the blocks if you block both wheels?
