Light Bulb Socket Dead? How To Troubleshoot?

Recently bought a 1998 Jayco 304BH Travel Trailer in great condition.

All lights seem to work except the double overhead light in the bathroom and the single overhead nearest the door. I tried replacing the bulbs with new ones to no avail. I also measured the voltage in the terminals on these dead sockets and got 0 volts.

Is it common for one or two sockets to go dead?

How would I trace where the problem is?

Any ideas to resolve this?

Thanks!

-Joseph

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry. I really can't help with specifics about your problem. Have you checked the wiring to the sockets? It seems likely that the circuits are disconnected at some point or shut off.

Some bathroom lights have two switches....one on the wall and the other on the fixture. They both must be on. If this is not the case, need to start tracing the wires back. Maybe start with power at the wall switch.

Yup that was it! The wall switch and the overhead switch needed to be on at the same time.

I love easy fixes!

Thank you!

Yeah, I usually re wire those fixtures to bypass the switch in the fixture and only use the wall switch.
