Locking Slide Arm Help

Hi all,

We purchased a new Jayco Eagle with a slide out, wardrobe. There is an arm that came with this, supposedly used to secure the slide while in the closed position. I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to put this arm in place. Any advice, sure will be appreciated.

While I never had a TT that used one. I have read several posts here that mention there should be a sticker on the wall where it should be placed. Do a search on this forum.

We have one in our Eagle. The dealer during PDI had no clue how or where it is to be placed. According to the paperwork it should be placed in the middle of slide 2 while retracted on the top inside wall and the inside of the moulding. Then screw the ends to tighten. Our problem is that both sides of the bar should have the pads on each end ours showed up with only one. It is to keep the slide out from extending during travel. I think the only real time it could be an issue is on some pretty bad or washboard dirt roads. I am not sure how many people have had issues.

Our Eagle didn't come with a lock for the slides and neither did my brother-in-laws trailer.. We have never had the slides open on their own while traveling.

My 2012 29RLDS came with one, I actually put a little note under the slide control that says REMOVE BRACE so I wouldn't forget. I think I only used it once or twice, and I have never had a problem with the slide coming out.

Speaking with my dealer, he says it's more of an insulation issue if not used. He worries about water, moisture and dust. He says it won't come out during travel.

I put ours in about the middle of the front wardrobe, between the interior wall and the backside of the top of the wardrobe trim on top. It is supposed to provide a better weather seal for those small wardrobe slides, and I was told if your Jayco comes with it, you should use it. It pulls that small slide in at the top, and I think it puts some pressure on the TT wall to assist. Just remember to remove the thing before hitting the slide switch to move it out or you will do major damage. We tie a colored ribbon around ours as a reminder (drapes down over the wardrobe). I'd like to find a nice cover that would work to put over the switch, though. Also, I remove it when dropping at the dealer for service. You never know who may wander in and hit the switch for some reason.

Thanks Mikefos for the info. I did call the company of the slidelock and they said the exact same thing as you posted.
Also I mentioned the missing cover on one of the sides of the slidelock and they shipped me one. It was a lot faster than waiting for one under warranty.
