Looking to buy... Newbie

Hello all, wanted to introduce myself and get some advice. My wife and I have been backpackers / tent campers for a long time. With a 6yr old and most of our friends who are no longer interested we have been looking in to TT's. I originally liked the idea of a pop up, but I think we've decided that if we're going to spend $10k + then we'd really like a full bathroom. Basically we're not looking for luxury but we'd like the option to sleep at least 7 (4 adults and kids)

We've looked at the Jay flight line, specifically the 29qbs because we really like the bunks. We've looked at the ultra lights, x18d and others with three bunks. My concern is that I've read some people reporting longevity issues with the ultra lite and I'm concerned about leaking of the canvas.

Any thoughts? Oh, I've got a cummins to pull, although if we could find one that would work that's around 4k lbs that would be great cause we could pull it with my wife's GMC Acadia. Another thing I liked about the ultra lite is the lift kit option. We've got a lot of old logging and forest roads close to us I'd like to explore and camp on.

I'm sure you will get feedback from JOF members who are in that class and style of TT.

You comment about pulling 4k with the Acadia. Provided that your not looking to climb mountains or go long distance with it, you will be ok, but plan on the Diesel for most of the long haul towing

My old TT was 3600 dry, and my wife's Yukon struggled with it.

I have an 2011 x20e, no issues with the bunks or slide. Still as good as when I bought it, less a couple of spots on the roof that needed to be recaulked (standard maintenance on any trailer).

Welcome to the JOF. Buy what you feel most comfortable with. Keep in mind that the kids will grow and require more space in the future.

We have a Jayco Jay Flight bunk house model. These TT's are the most popular and affordable products in the Jayco line up. Find a floor plan that you believe works best for you and then just stay on the maintenance. Ours is a 2007 and we've had no problems to speak of. Good luck and enjoy.

Mine is a 2010 (EXP21M) with over 20K miles and no problems at all. I would buy the same TT again in a heart beat!

Hi, welcome from Langley BC, I have the X213, double bunk in the front with a king bed rear slide out. 21' closed not including the tongue and 27' open. No issues at all. I cover it in the winter and cover the AC unit when it is parked at my house to protect it from the elements. I am a firm believer in regular maintenance including washing. It is going on the third season looking just as good as it did when I bought it new in 2012 It is lower to the ground too and with the tapered front nose makes it a little more aerodynamic. At 4200 lbs empty and 5500 lbs GVW loaded, it is easy to tow with my 04 Dodge Ram 1500
