LP quick connect

I have the LP quick connect installed on my trailer for the bumper mount grill, but don't have the grill nor do I care to. My question is would this connection work to fuel a portable stove? Like the Walmart ones that just use the small screw-on bottles, but if I got the correct adapter and hose... Is the pressure going to be OK to run something like this?

Yes, because the propane is already regulated at the tanks. I have yet to go purchase the hose for my Coleman 2-burner gas grill so I've not looked into the type of connection for the stove end yet, but I believe they make those in various lengths to accommodate the quick-disconnect at one end and the bottle connection at the stove end.

If the portable grill has its own regulator where the bottle screws on and if the quick disconnect is down stream from your tank regulator, then it will not work on your quick disconnect, which already has the pressure reduced. Most likely all the gas lines running under your trailer are at reduced pressure.

Search the threads. Yes and no to answer your question.
The small bottles are high pressure. The connection on the trailer is low pressure. I have a stove that uses the small bottles the regulator is built into the control knobs of the stove. So this type of stove would not work. I have a coleman 2 burner stove as well which uses the small bottles as well. Now this stove still won't work unless you were to remove the regulator but then you would have to come up with an adapter to bring it into the stove.
With all that being said if the stove runs on the little bottles it is high pressure stove and high pressure is needed to supply the stove where the bottles plug in. You could maybe adapt it but you should know what your doing if you do.
If you find a lower pressure stove that would hang off the side of the camper let me know I haven't seen one yet

I also have a TT with a quick disconnect for low pressure propane, except mine is on the side by the door. What sort of thing was envisioned for this hookup?

My propane quick connect also has a shut-off ball valve built into the connection. Makes a very safe set-up.

Camp Chef makes several low pressure stoves that will work. They wouldn't attach to the camper, but you could make a small counter that could and sit the stove on it. We just use a small table.
http://www.campchef.com/stoves/two-b...ner-stove.html

I went with this as it can be used with or without legs.

These can be bought for less on Amazon, etc.

Take a look at the sticky "LP Quick Connect..." under Campfire Cooking by Bob Landry. Also look at some of the follow-ups for some additional ways to solve the problem.

This is a website www.flameengineering.com I used to get the hose and fittings to make my quick disconnect work on my TT. I retrofitted my Weber Q1000 as directed in the directions as noted in the sticky mentioned above.

Go to the parts and accessories section of the webpage and you'll find what you need

I wrote Weber concerning this, as I had not seen this thread. This was their reply. I'm not concerned about warranty, as long as it's safe, can't see why it would not be.

Thank you for your email. The Q series of grills cannot be adapted to run off of an RV LP system. Depending on the model, they can only be used with either the small disposable LP canisters or a 20lb tank with a Weber QCC1 adaptor hose. Using the grill with any other fuel source may cause the grill to present a safety hazard and will void the warranty on the grill.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Thank you for choosing Weber.

Weber can easily and safely be hooked up to Jayco's quick connect.

Read here and look at post #7.

There are many grills out there better than the weber bbq, and Weber has to make those statements, it's a liability if they speak out differently. Only if they made their own attachment would they approve the modification. As many others have stated they have done it, again doesn't prove it to be safe, rather low risk.

Personally, I have a grill I purchased from Costco last year and I also have a camp chef stove, camp chef sells the quick connect, as well as does Walmart.

If you don't want to chance it, just sell the Weber on Craigslist or something and buy one that supports the adapter

Click on the Home button at the top of the Jayco Forum page.
Scroll down to near the bottom of the page until you find the topic of Campfire Cooking and click on that.
Look at the 2nd sticky at the top of the page that comes up.
It is titled CAMPFIRE COOKING and it is by Bob Landry.
Click on that. Voila!

I just converted my Weber Q using the method in post #5 in the following link: http://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=12117
Very easy and I don't see how it could cause any issue.

Just note that you remove only the regulator from your Weber. It unscrews from the valve assembly. Then remove the quick connect from the valve assembly you purchase and screw it onto the Weber valve assembly where the regulator was. Make sure to use yellow Teflon tape for gas when attaching the quick connect.

You shouldn't have any problems.

Weber Q on the other hand, can't be responsible for whatever modifications are made, so in our sue happy world, they have to make a disclaimer statement no matter what.
