Maiden Voyage Completed

Took our new 23RB out on her maiden voyage this past weekend. I'm happy to say it towed very nicely out (166 mile one way) and back. The whole set up was extremely civil.

Also happy that everything worked. Did have one hiccup. We were running on generators for a while. Late in the day, I decide to shut them off. The fridge didn't not automatically change over to gas. It tried, but the gas check light came on. I switched the fridge off, waited a few seconds, and then cut it back on again. This time it started right up on gas.

All the other times when it needed to switch between electricity and gas, it did fine.

For about twenty minutes the bottom fell out of the clouds. We took this opportunity to search for any apparent leaks. Didn't find any.

All in all, very happy with the first weekend camping.

Great report on the first trip!

For the fridge, it probably had a little air in the propane line. You can do just as you did and watch for it to fault out, then cycle it again, or you can run the stove for a couple minutes to get the air out of the lines.

I have a 23rb and I run the stove for a minute as suggested. Works everytime. Nothing like you maiden voyage. This is when I realized I needed to learn how to propely dump my black tank. Yikes!

Great to hear the first trip was a success! It poured for 2 days straight on our first trip with our current camper. Not a drop of water entered the camper from anywhere!

Understanding the status of your propane tank valves and the pressure in your propane hoses is important. I will guess that you had your tanks on when you switched. I won't get too technical, but if there was a pressure drop in your propane lines due to inactivity, or, someone turning the burners on the stove off an on, your propane regulator may have had a freeze. This is consistent with the instructions to turn on your propane valves slowly when first installing them. It sounds as if this may have been the cause as turning things off, then back on give the temperature time to equalize. You might want to read the "Troubleshooting" instructions in your refrigerator manual to help you understand this issue. Have fun!
