Maxxis or Marathon Tires in ST225 75 15
I admit, I'm concerned over ya all's posts on this forum on the junk Tow Max Tires failures being reported after few years. Been looking at getting them off my 2013 334RBTS which is right at 10,500 LBS, plus I have a notorious lead foot. My Tow Max Tires are LR D 225 75 15 at 2,540 LBS. The Goodyear Marathons are rated the same 2,540 LBS in that size. Maxxis has a LR E rated at 2,830. I'm skeptical of putting another set of Chinese junk tires on my wife's beloved TT. Not sure to spend the money on set of Goodyear's with the same load rating and have them maxed out but with piece of mind that they are good tires, or put the higher rated Maxxis tires on and take a chance on Chinese junk. Anyone offer some thoughts?

After lengthy review last summer, in my opinion, the Maxxis are the best trailer tires made. Bought a set and put 6000 miles on them in three weeks. No problems!

After reading countless posts about Maxxis versus all others, and after speaking personally with a couple of RV'er friends who have bought them, I have ordered a set of Maxxis. Matter of fact they are in and I will be installing them Saturday. I have had 6 seasons of zero problems with my original equipment Chinese Marathons but I am pushing my luck with them. All in all, I am pretty convinced the Maxxis is the best tire for our RV's at present.

The Goodyears are made in China while the Maxxis are made in Thailand. While I like my USA made Goodyear truck tires, I have had bad luck with the Chinese made trailer tires. Therefore even though I might get a little warranty money from Goodyear, I'm switching to Maxxis.

I just outfitted my trailer with 5 new Maxxis tires. They replaced Marathons that were on there since 2007. I never had an issue with the Marathons but decided to try the Maxxis.

Had Marathons on my last unit and they lasted 5 years for me and the new owner. Had Towmax on this current rig and just replaced with Maxxis due to a failure on one. Thailand made and seem to have a good service record based on NHTSA complaints. Every tire brand is going to have some failures, it just seems that Towmax are having a lot by reports. Personal experience in my case as well.

I am on my second set of Maxxis tires for my ATV with very little problems. I know those are made in Taiwan which is alot better than the Peoples Republic of China imo. I am not sure if the trailer tires are made in Taiwan, but if they are I think they are a lot better than anything coming out of Mainland China.

I currently have goodyear marathons on my eagle. We leave next weekend on a 3 week trip and the tires are 4 years old. While doing my wheel bearing pack this week I noticed that they( tires) didn't look good and starting to separate and crack in the tread. I went down to discount tire and ordered 4 new Maxxis they will be in on Tuesday. All reviews on this forum and others say Maxxis so that's what I went with.

I spoke to an expert tire guy from Discount Tire, told him that my 334 which weighs 10,000 lbs had Tow Max load range D tires on it. First thing he said was gettem off there buddy. He gets calls all day long about TT owners having blow outs on brand new TTs because these manufactures install only the cheapest tires they can roll it off the property with. I asked him about tire quality, said Maxxis is the best so we went with 4 new in load range E. I've been fortunate not to lose a Tow Max tire that was at max load, especially rolling past 65 at times.

Its important to know what your tire dealer has ready access to. We went with Marathon because the supplier for our dealer had more reliable connections and got us tires that were only 2 months old from when they were made. His supplier for Maxxis was not as dependable. He had got tires from him that were 2 years old in the past. I would much rather have 2 month old Marathons vs 2 year old Maxxis!! Maxxis are made in Taiwan and its a good chance your Marathons are made in China!! Its important about the quality control of the tire company, not where it is located.. The price of tire should never be a consideration. If you explode one, it could cost you thousands!!! Always get as much cushion as you can on your tire limits. You will find that most tire issues that are not from neglect are tires that are close to there capacity weight wise.
