Memorex sts71e replacement -2011 Jayco 27BH

Jayco 27BH new owner first TT. I am wondering what others have replaced the original radio with as ours is making a loud noise when you power it on.

Welcome to the forum. I can't help you with the radio since I still use the Memorex.

Did you get it from a Dealer? Might be worth talking to them about it even if you didn't. I know our local Jayco dealer is awesome and would probably try to talk you through troubleshooting just because it is a Jayco.

Ebay can be a good place to find those type of things. What year is your trailer and do you have the model number of the radio?

Welcome to the Jayco Owners Forum Buzter! Is it under the two yr warranty and did you buy it new? Our speaker buzzed also, and it was a matter of disconnecting some wire (sorry can't remember which) that the factory added incorrectly. If not under warranty, Jayco prides itself on supplying parts to any age Jayco.

The one complaint members seem to have is that the entertainment system sorta sucks in most of the recent models and have replaced them with completely different brands. While waiting for replies from some of those members on what they bought, try searching the forum under 'radio' or 'sound system' etc. Let us know what you wind up doing, as it may help others

Well I am not much help then....

I cant remember how that thing mounted in there, wasn't it just resting on the shelf? I dont remember it being custom fit. If that is the case, cant you replace it with any other model with similar features? The plug in for the speakers may be different (if it is not bare wire), but that should be easily fixable. There are a ton out there ranging from $100 to $100....blue ray would be a nice upgrade.

Yes it does just sit in there and that was my next thought as long as it fits in the cubby go with something maybe better or newer..and hopefully it will work with the speakers I have now..I would think all of them would...wouldn't they??

I would think so...only thing I would check is to make sure there are just 2 wires going to the subwoofer. I dont think it was powered, but that would be the only thing that I can think of that could get ya....

Was that thing 120v or 12v ?

It seems the unit in out trailer is a low wattage unit compared to anything on the market that I can see. Here is a link that may stick around for a bit.

http://b0017sr7d2.shopping.kingbloom...vd-player.html

I believe the system is rated at 6 Ohms so its good to stick as close to that as possible. Most mini-home systems are 3 or 4 Ohms and Standard Home Amp systems with big old speakers tend to be 8 Ohms.

My suggest would be to find a decent unit in the 4 Ohm range preferably under 400 Watts to avoid popping the speakers.

If I have any more info, I will post it up. I still have not found a good replacement yet but am just starting my search.
