Mold/ tree sap question
Hey all -
Just found this forum last night and joined up as I have 2 quick questions regarding our Jayco Pop Up.
We usually bring it home, open it up and clean it out before putting it away till the next trip. After our last trip, we left it up north to reduce towing it back and forth as we were back up there this weekend.
2 part question:
1)Unfortunately, it poured buckets of rain on Saturday during our previous trip, but the next day, it was sunny and dry. In closing it up, we wiped it all down (there wasn't much if anything as the sun had dried it) but unfortunately, somehow still ended up with some mold on the inside of the camper, underneath the vinyl that's over the bed area. What can I use to remove this?
2) Got what I believe is tree sap on the outside of the vinyl areas - what can I use to remove without ruining the fabric? Its appears to be like dirt, but regular soap and water doesn't remove it..

If it is mold on the inside, I used Tilex which has bleach in it. I would put it on a cloth and wipe it on the canvas. Just make sure you protect your bedding and clothing just in case you drip.
As far as tree sap, I used Goo Gone and washed it off with dawn dish soap. After that we purchased some bunk end covers from www.popupgizomos.com
That helped protect our bunk ends and kept us warmer or cooler inside the PUP. Hope this helps.

Tree sap is tough to get off. Use the anti bacterial hand cleaner. Alcohol, isopropanol will remove it.
A citrus cleaner will help keep mold off . Do search on the forum for it.

We used bleach for mold. You can dilute it with water. For sap, wife swears by those magic erasers from mr clean. I say screw it but she likes to get the sap off.

a very delayed thank you for all of the great ideas. The mold came off without a problem with a little bleach and water spray. The tree sap, not so much, but its better than it was. In no way will it ever look brand new but...

Tilex or simple green for the mold. Go - Jo hand cleaner for the sap.

I never thought of using agent orange for removing sap. I like the smell of it and the grit in it does a good job. Thanks for that idea? I wouldn't want to scratch the surface with it but if it's ok for your hands why not.

really like the go jo/orange for the sap removal. Tried Simple green but it didn't even touch it. As the campers already put away in storage for the winter, this shall have to wait till spring.

Agent Orange was used in Vietnam as a defoiliant, you probably want to use an orange based cleanser.

Usmc, The poster before me made reference to the orange go-jo product for cleaning sap off of their trailer. From where I'm from the machinists who work in mills and mechanics commonly call it product orange. Just a cute nickname, workplace humor. Anyone over 50 is usually aware of what it was used for during the war.
