Mounting a TV in 2016 174BH

Good evening all,

Just took delivery of our 2016 Jayco Jay Flight 175BH Baja.

I wanted to put our 21" TV of course where the outlet is but the guy at my dealership told me not to because there's too many wires and no stud there... I pressed the wall in front of him and it felt very solid between the 12V outlet and the 120V outlet... If I drill into the stud, I shouldn't have any issues, right?

Anyone have any photos of their TV mount installed?

Slightly different than mine...

I figured I'll go buy a TV mount any ways and slap in there... Seems to me that Jayco wouldn't put wires back in there knowing that's where the TV would mount. I mean yeah, there are outlets and switches there but I am 99% sure the stud lies right where i want it...

I'll start with a small drill bit for a pilot hole and if I get wood that comes out, I am golden!

First off, this is the mount we bought... I've had great luck with it in the past! Good solid unit and easy to use/mount...

I used a stud finder to find the mounting point... (Not needed as you can lightly press on the wall to find the studs...) My results are below...

Fits a 24" Visio TV nicely


Careful where you mount as the outlet MAY get in the way... Mine rides along the top and actually helps prevent much movement... I got lucky, I originally had the arms facing the other way but would rather not have it covering the awning switch...



At the request of the wife, we added lift shocks to the bed...

RP53, Anyway you could post a pic of the wall mount area on your 195?
Would like a TV and want to mount it in the same spot but looking for an approximate area where the stud would be.

The Jeep pulls alright... Doesn't pull as good as it did with our Travel Lite idea i17 but it's because it sits a LOT higher so it has more drag... It's 55 mph where it starts to struggle... If I put factory wheels/tires back on, I shouldn't have any issues.... I've got the 3.6l Pentastar with 3.73 gears. If I regear I could leave the 35's on it but that's down the road a bit...




Yep, we have our 3 year old son up on the top bunk and the 9 year old daughter below... She HAD to have the window... Plus, she wont rip down the trim to the bed getting in and out... Didn't seem as sturdy as I'd like it to be...

Also, being in Washington state and having kids, a TV is a must... They'll do board games and then become bored if we can't go outside due to rain... So, they wanted a TV...

I have a Sequoia to tow with primarily. I have a Tacoma with the 3.4l V6 I would like to use as a power unit on hunting trips. I will wire it and give it a try. 55 mph is good enough!

Thanks for being the guinea pig on this! I've just been storing it under the top bunk when traveling and then placing it on the counter. I'll have to get that mount and do the same.

Where did you get the bed shocks? That's a mod I'd love to do.

I just recently added a wireless backup camera to mine. I have yet to take pictures and post because I've been too busy but I'll get around to it.

The only thing we don't like about the 174bh baja is the small table (I need a mod to make it bigger) and the height makes it difficult to stabilize at sloping sites. Last site we went to I had 3 6x8's under one of the stabs and it was still fully extended. Tongue was still 6" off the ground. I should have taken pictures. So lots of weight and space dedicated to blocks.

I too would be interested in the TV mount.. Currently its on the counter in camp or on the bed travelling

And the shocks.. Stuff is always falling down there even though we found no need for storage there.. the tv remote always winds up there.

Here is a link to the bed lift kit... The standard may be a BIT more than what is needed but it should soften up over time with use...

Great setup!! What WD hitch did you go with? We are considering one for the Cherokee. I am surprised by how much sturdier the build is then what my second impression is. When we first got it, I was in lust, then came the close up inspection, now it grows again.

Consider a hypertech or a superchips. I picked a couple of horses out of it when I put it on my JK.

The old setup with the Travel Lite Idea was all stock... I think it was an EzSway WD/Anti-Sway hitch... Took it off the Travel Lite for the Jayco... Now that I am lifted 2.5 inches and on 35's, the towing is a bit harder... All I have to do is put stock wheels back on and I'm golden...

I have a 2015 Wrangler so no chip is "cheaply" available... Got to swap out the entire PCM for an older one or have it flashed which ends up to be about $900 all said and done...

Why don't you just use a stud-finder?

I did use a stud finder. Dealer told me that I didn't want to drill there because there were wires running through the stud and I might drill into one... I am really doubtful of that...

measurements a promised The TV mount is 7 1/2 inches from the bottom of the cabinet and 6 inches from the electrical outlet. That is where the stud is on ours. attached is a pic of the TV mount i used. i simply used 2 1/2 inc deck screws to attach. fairly easy project. one thing i had to do is remove the bulky outlet cover and replace with a flush mount cover. the reason i used the small TV mount is for space saving as you know ever inch counts in our TT. the whole thing is only 4 inches from the wall. the TV is a 24 inch Samsung weighs very little so it stays on the wall for travel. i also built a small box for the blue ray and attached to the underside of the cabinet. hope this helps
