New Jayco Owner - 2013 Jayco Eagle 314BDS

2013 Jayco Eagle 314BDS... we took the plunge and picking it up on Thursday! We had an old pull RV that our family just outgrew... two little ones and my wife and I....

A couple of questions...
> We will most likely be storing it outside... any suggestions on the type cover we should get... and what we should put under the wheels... will be in a grassy filed area... concrete squares?

> We live in South Louisiana... anyone from around this area with any "favorite" spots? Love to hear them...

> Overall... not too many questions just yet... just excited!

Congrats and welcome to the forum! Nice unit. Keep mine outside too, never used a cover.

Welcome to the JOF Afranzo! Nice tt! Ours is about three and half years old and we have never covered ours (where the tt is stored ranges between 30-85 degree's during the year). We check our tt roof at least four times a year, wash/treat it twice a year, and if compromises in the seals show up, we Dicor them. From what I hear, if you do use a 'cover', make sure it is snug (apparently the wind can make it wiggle enough to chaf the sides at the corners). We do cover our tires when stored for more than a month. Congrats on the new Eagle

alfranzo,
That's a beautiful trailer. Congrats.

Look into Carolina Carports to protect it from the elements.
I had one installed in my back yard.

Where are you located? We're in Prairieville, and can suggest many campgrounds.
PM me if you'd like.

Very nice rig, looks really sharp. x2 on the 2x12s under the tires and you can level as needed side to side depending on the ground surface. Not sure on the cover as Ive read mixed things about them trapping moisture, chaffing/rubbing on finished surfaces due to wind etc.

Nice rig! I laid concrete pads to park on and it was worth all the effort. Also, I don't use a cover because all the reasons already mentioned.

I haven't done it yet, but my home base is gravel and I use Lynx Levelers under the tires while here even if leveling isn't needed I just use one layer as a barrier from the gravel.

I *LOVE* My 314BDS

Welcome to the 314BDS family!

I have had my unit for 6 months and have already logged over 25 nights. It is my second home in the summer, and I use it as my mobile ski lodge in the winter.

So far so good. A couple of super minor issues fixed under warranty. Rest assured that you spent your money wisely choosing a Jayco. They could not be nicer when you need something fixed.

Here is my candid review after my first week in the unit. Enjoy!!!

Couple other things I just thought about. You should do the shower fix that Shaner proposes in this thread:

http://www.jaycoowners.com/showthrea...ghlight=shaner

Water runs along the front of the shower wall and will send a stream through your unit. The fix above is quick, cheap ($3) and totally fixes the problem.

Get the rear bumper BBQ mount arm if your unit did not already come with one. I got mine from Jayco for $140. This is an arm that extends from the back bumper of the trailer for your BBW. The cool thing is that it moves your BBQ from the forward mount to the rear where the rear kitchen is. Nice add IMHO.

Here is a photo of my 314 deep in the Montana Wilderness (Glacier National Park)...."Somewhere in the middle of, Montana..."

Thank yall very much for all the tips! Think ill be going with the 2x12's.... still going back and forth or whether or not to get the cover... we live in South Louisiana... so it is pretty humid all the time... not too much wind though....

Either way.... WE PICK UP THE CAMPER TOMORROW! and our first trip is not this weekend but the following and can't wait!!!

When you pick up your new TT tomorrow watch over the shoulder of the RV tech that's adjusting your WDH...., since the TT will be in an unloaded state departing the RV dealership you will have to check/re-adjust the WDH under loaded conditions prior to your weekend trip. Also get the installation documents from him.

Enjoy the new Eagle!

Bob

We just got a new Jayflight 32bhds a few months ago and this is the first New TT for us and found out something the hard way on our 2nd trip . I was not aware that the furnace needed to be run for a while to burn off. When you get the trailer home open up the windows and switch on the furnace and let it run for an hour or so then it will produce an awful odor and after that its ready. Have a safe trip and congrats.
