New Jayco owner, heater question.

How long will our heater trigger the smoke alarm in our unit? We avoid turning it on do to it setting off alarm. This is our first weekend using our new 32DHBS. Thanks!

We turned the thermostat up as far as it would go, turned on the furnace, took the battery out of the smoke detector, turned on the exhaust fans, and left for an hour or so. When you return turn off the furnace, replace the detector batteries, and open the windows. That should burn off the furnace and eliminate the problem.

About 90-120 min to burn the oils and what not from the heater. Then about 3-4 hours with the window and fans on to air out the TT.

Geez, I'm living a charmed life. Never had a problem with oil from the furnace setting off the smoke detector.

I should have set it off so maybe you need to check the smoke detector.

I never had an issue with the new furnance smell setting it off .... however I still cannot enjoy a cup of hot coffee sitting at my dinette (alarm directly above table) as the steam sets it off.

Some dealers actually burn in your heater for you as part of their PDI, well the goods ones who care.

If your dealer didn't, I would be really concerned about my smoke detector if the first furnace run didn't set it off. You can hardly be in the TT as the furnace burns in its so strong.

My dealer must have burned off the furnace prior to delivery. We just spent the first two nights in our new Jayco Eagle and didn't get any smell from the furnace. Our furnace worked overtime the last two nights with temps in the 30's at night.

Don't put your dog's bed too near the CO2 detector if it has to fart.

I set the temperature at 60 when we were sleeping. When ready to get up, I'd jump out of bed, push it to 70 and go back to bed until the TT reached 70. I have no idea how much propane I used.
