Hello everyone, I am a brand new memeber as well as brand new to RVing, travel trailering, etc. I picked up my 2015 Jay Flight 34RSBS Elite two days ago and can't wait to try it out! I really look forward to getting to know some of you and also tap into the vast wealth of knowledge that is present on this forum. I'm sure i will have tons of questions once I start using the TT. I'll be sure to check previous threads before I ask a question. Chances are it has already been asked.

Dan

Thanks to all for the greetings!! I knew this would be a friendly forum. I found out quickly that i need a bigger truck to pull the rig. I currently have an Expedition and 2003 F-150. I pulled it from the dealer to my house, only about 10 miles and had one big hill to climb and the expedition struggled with it. I'm now looking for a 2500 Suburban or an Excursion.

Welcome! And congrats on the new TT! Sounds like you have a nice one!

This is a great forum. If you have a question, ask away. More than one person has probably "been there - done that." Lots of collective knowledge here.

Happy trails!

Welcome from Knoxville TN. We are newbies also and got the same unit as you in January. Took it on its maiden voyage last week. GREAT unit, we are looking forward to some great trips in it.

Hey Richard, or anyone else, do you know if there is a battery cutoff switch for the electric tongue jack? Mine only works now if i am plugged into my truck system.

Do you have a battery cutoff switch on the trailer that's engaged? Your tongue jack should work without being plugged into the TV.

Hi Dan- We LOVE the Jay Flight especially in comparison to the Hideout. The Keystone was a nice unit but was simply too small in the bedroom and bath. And the 3 slides on the Jayco compared to 1 slide on the Hideout... well it's Jed Clampets hillbilly cabin compared to their Beverley Hills mansion as for the battery question, no there is not a cutoff built in. It should run off your camper battery with no problem. Item #1 for your "tick list" for the dealer to check.

On a different note, I will give you this warning: you need to take the battery out of its case and drill some drain holes in the bottom of the case. The case has two air vents in the lid which allow water into the case but there is no where to go. I was getting ready to take mine out and was surprised to see it standing in water to the top of the battery case. Put a note on the forum and found out it is a common problem.

Hope you enjoy the unit.

Quahog and Richard, thanks for the feedback. The first time i tried the tongue jack it worked fine with the rig unhooked from the truck, second time, no go. I'll call the dealer. I can't check for the cutoff switch until I get home Friday. Good tip on the battery case.

Dan- May want to check the slides and see if they work off of the battery. If not then check the 3- 25amp fuses in the panel on the right side marked "reverse polarity fuse(s)". Had it happen on the trip last week and all three fuses were blown.
