New Member with Electronic question about 26BH

Hello everyone,
First time posting, just joined this forum today.
The wife and I own a 2012 Jayco 26BH.

We first noticed a sharp whistling sound emanating from below the fridge (where the breaker panel is) when we turned on the TV, or radio.

Since then I have done some testing and it happens when we turn on the interior lights, or the furnace is running. Haven't tested the microwave or when the fridge is on.

When turning off the first breaker from left to right on the breaker panel, the whistling stops. When I turn off the 3rd breaker from left to right the whistling stops. All other breakers do NOT stop the whistling when turned off.

Any idea what could cause such an issue?

Welcome.

It sounds like your converter cooling fan. There is a converter/charger mounted behind the breakers which charges and converts 120V into 12V from shore power. Your converter fan kicks on and off depending on the load. This will only happedn when plugged in and should not be the case if only on 12V. If it is still present with just 12V then maybe there is a fan under the fridge acting up.

Thank you, I will go out and unplug from shore power and see if I get the same thing from being on the 6V paired golf cart batteries.

If I do not, then does that mean I need to replace my converter cooling fan?

I had a similar problem right after I got I received my TT last year. They replaced the fan under warranty and I have not had any issues since.

I have the same camper. I would pull the drawer out and then look down at the converter. Do you keep your plugged in all the time? I can tell you that the mice like the warm converter in the winter and think it is a great place to make a nest....might have a little debris in the fan.

I don't know if you can just replace the cooling fan as it is usually an intergrated part of the converter. Your under warranty I would assume based on the year so leave it to the dealer once you confirm what part is causing the issue. Before heading over go through everything so you can get all the issues addressed while there.

Mine is 2 weeks old and does the same thing. I'm not too worried about it yet....

We also have a loud fan noise too. The noise stated on our 4th and last trip, its so loud you can't sleep. I had to switch the frig to gas only to sleep. Took the RV to Richardson in Menifee, CA, they said the noise was ok and Jayco wouldn't replace the converter. I think after a few hours of running it get hots and the noise level increases. So I'm fighting with Jayco to replace the fan or the converter.
