New Sealy mattress

Has anyone had any issues with the new 2017 Sealy Mattress? It is much, much thicker than the old Denver mattress. We noticed that after sleeping on it a couple of nights that there were indentations that stayed in the mattress where we slept. Wondering if anyone else has noticed this?

I did hear that Jayco has switched from Denver to Sealy for 2017 and to the best of my knowledge, you are the first to comment on these new Sealys. Your input may be instrumental in our decision to at least put a memory foam topper on ours right out of the gate before even one night of sleeping on it.

Here's hoping others chime in with their overview of these new Sealys.

We are putting a memory foam topper on before our next trip. When you first look at the mattress you will immediately notice how thick it is, you practically need a ladder to get up into bed! But although it is thick it feels practically hollow. Both DW and I said that after the first night. Invest in a good memory foam topper and you will be happy with it.

There is another thread out there called "The New Denver Mattress" that addresses this to an extent. Our Denver mattress was so bad after 4 nights I called manufacturer and got warranty refund. Turns out it wasn't a true "Denver" mattress but outsourced to Michiana Mattress in Indiana. Basically was a very cheap standard issue mattress with Denver name...quite deceptive if you ask me. Yours may not be a true Sealy...We purchased a Dynasty RV Queen and it is extremely nice! Would highly recommend. Here's link

Our 2016 came with the Denver mattress. After the first couple of times out, we started looking around for options to improve. We stumbled across a Sealy 4" queen size memory foam topper while in Sam's Club one day and decided to give it a try. It made a considerable amount of difference and was worth the price.

We have the 2017 with the Sealy mattress. We've only slept on it 3 nights so far - I didn't mind it but my DH hated it. He said he felt like he was falling into the middle. We're going to try putting our memory foam topper from our old camper on it but if he's falling into the middle not sure if that will help.

And yes..... our mattress is so high! I'm 5'5" but feel like I'm literally climbing in and out. I hadn't seen anyone else mention it but I find it way too high for my liking.

We have a 2017 White Hawk 28DSBH with the new Sealy. Have slept on it twice so far, but with a memory foam topper right out of the gate. On top of that we then added a pillow top queen mattress cover because the setup was a tad too firm without it. Everyone's ideal mattress feel is different, but for us it seems pretty dialed in now, very much like a decent residential mattress. Slept very well on it.

Oh, and as others have commented, the Sealy is a pretty tall mattress...

I did a walkthrough on our new trailer this weekend with the 2017 mattress. We won't get to sleep on it for a week or so but figured we would go ahead and get a pillow top or memory foam for it now.

What are you guys buying and where are you getting it?

Dumped the Denver right away in my 2016. I layed on it once at the dealership and knew immediately it had to go. The DW has RA and needs a good mattress. We got a Brentwood 11" memory gel mattress on Amazon. We had one in our old rig and it worked out well. I highly recommend it.

Not that it matters much because I haven't seen a standard equipment RV mattress from any manufacturer that was acceptable, but I thought Jayco moved to Simmons mattresses in 2017?

Ours is not very comfortable at all. We HAD to put at least the 2" memory foam topper we had from the old camper. Luckily (or not) the 28 bhbe has the short queen so the topper fit nicely. After sleeping on it for 8 nights now, it isn't too bad. We may look at a replacement at some point.

After a few trips laying on our new Denver mattress, we dumped it and upgraded to a Pillow top. It made a world of difference and we sleep a lot better at night.

Slept in our new 2017 24MBH with the Sealy mattress last night. What a disappointment the mattress is hard as a rock. Picked up a 3" memory foam from Costco today. Unfortunately its to big for the Murphy bed option.

I think one problem with any discussion of mattresses is 'personal preference '. That's why Mattress stores sell a wide range of firmness and why the sleep number mattress was designed.
I suspect that the only way RV manufacturers could make us all happy is if they just didn't ship mattresses at all but let each buyer select their own.
That said - I also recognize that there are some really cheap mattresses shipped with RVs.

I don't understand putting foam on top of a sagging mattress. It seems that would leave you with a sagging mattress with a second piece of sagging foam on top of it. That is why mattresses used box springs for a base. I suppose if the sagging mattress is thin enough, your body could rest on the board beneath it, that way you might get some satisfaction from a soft top.

Exact same experience with ours after four nights.

Noticed yesterday while putting a topper on the mattress that nowhere on the mattress does it say "Sealy" . Does anybody actually have a mattress with a Sealy tag ? The tags that are on iT have some oddball manufacturers name. When the tt goes in for a few fixes I think I'm going to call BS.

Read my post on page 1 of this thread, post #4...that may help answer your question.

Can you trim the memory foam? I have the murphy too and will do that with one of my toppers.
