New to Jayco

New to Jayco and the travel trailer world. Started with a Coleman pop up in 95 and then a hybrid 3 years ago. Have a Jayflight SLX 284BHSW. Taking it out for a shakedown next weekend. Welcome to any suggestions or advice. Thanks in advance!

Like you I started with a pop up and then an hybrid (x19h) 3 years ago and just did our first week with our 264BHW. My only advice to you is what I went through on the ride home yesterday. I was in a bigger vehicle with a lot more ponies under the hood pulling a trailer that weighed more than anything that I had ever pulled in a torrential downpour. Put as many safety features into your tow vehicle as you can. Your life is more important than cheaping out ...

Congratulations. I also towed a much smaller trailer before I graduated. My one suggestion is to learn what you can about sway control. Prior to reading about it I always thought of it in regard to wind, trucks passing etc. I was glad that I investigated as my first trip went down a very long downgrade. Had I not been prepared prior to the trip it could have turned ugly. My van has a trailer package which also helped. But, it was being prepared for the cross winds caused by the gaps in the hills that made all the preparation worth it.

Congrats on the new trailer. We took the same steps, going from tent trailer, to hybrid trailer and then we bought our 267BH in April and have had it about 2 weeks total. I'm still working out the kinks with the sway. Learn about your slide and how to hand crank it in if fails to come in at the push of a button. Good luck and have fun!

So why are there two overflow tubes?

What do you mean by "2 overflow tubes"? I have a 23RB which has two fresh water tanks. It has a fresh water tank drain for each fresh water tank.
However, it only has one gravity fill that fills both fresh water tanks.

The gravity fill has one small tube that lets air out of the fresh water tanks as they fill.

There are also two low point drains, one for the cold water side and one for the hot water side. However, these are only used when preparing the trailer for winter storage.
