New Tow Vehicle

I pulled my 27bh with a 1500 Suburban for years. I did not feel comfortable with the combination. It was too much trailer no matter what the numbers said. This caused me to stay with short local trips and stay off the highways as much as possible. Once the trailer was paid off I moved up to a DRW pickup. They can not even be compared. Now the plan is to pay off the truck and upgrade the trailer. An endless cycle, LOL.

I made the switch from a 1/2 ton to a 2500 and it is like night and day towing. I have the 23MBH which is similar in size and weight of yours. It tows like an absolute dream with the 2500.

Agreed! In fact, if the original poster is buying used, I would also include the possibility of buying a 3500. Price might be almost the same. Then if OP buys a 5er in the future they have more payload capacity.

I'll also add that even if you can squeak by the payload numbers on a half ton truck, the chassis and transmission will always be weak links that you have to constantly worry about.
