PPL Motorhomes will have the parts but you will need the make and probably the model of the awning before you will be able to find any parts. Most of these are manufacturer specific. If you tell us those two details we might be able to help.

The link will take you to exploded views of many different awnings.

Looks like you need a new end cap.

beware of the spring it is under a lot of tension.. to me it is best left to a repair depot.

Email Jayco with your VIN and they will be able to tell the model of the awning. Then you can find out which one by looking at the diagrams on PPL.

From there you can research the method to have it fixed.

They invited you to view the REG REAR SPG 8'-18' WHT ***USE 26-2082 *** Product.

To view the product page, click on the URL given below.
URL: http://www.rvdealership.com/rvdstore...sl-n-8-20.aspx Cost of the part alone is $115 plus any taxes and shipping. Be sure to verify this is the correct part with your dealer.

Since it is involving the spring I would suggest you have the dealer or service center do the work unless you are very familiar with working on spring loaded parts. It is more than a one person job.

I found this part on the PPL website, Carefree, Fiesta, after 1997 parts listing.

Hope it helps.

$115 for an end cap plus labor to replace it? Could you find a piece of aluminum rod that fits inside both the cap and mounting lug and screw/JB weld them together?

JB weld or a set screw would definitely NOT be strong enough to hold against spring tension, IMO. Besides, if you stuck in a rod, how are you going to get the spring tension back up to specs ? This job is probably similar to winding a garage door opener spring and securing it. If you don't have the right tools and knowledge, you can get hurt badly. IMHO, $115 and labor would be well worth it.

I didn't realize that cap was under spring tension...why would they use cast, hollow aluminum to counter spring tension? Looks like it lasted a while but not a great design.

I could be wrong, but it looks like there might be spring tension inside, from your pics. But again, I may be wrong on this. You should probably contact Carefree with the model (fiesta) and ask for an exploded diagram to be sure. They can send you one via email.

Congratulations on working through a good fix.
If it happens to me, now I'll feel confident in fixing it.

Best regards,
Doug
