New Travel Trailer!

Well, last August, we bought our first Travel Trailer, a Jay Flight 198RD. We loved it and have been camping quite a bit in it since then.
However, the wife and I started talking about having a little more space...and THEN, made the mistake of going to "look" at some campers the other day.

Well, I am now the proud owner of a Jay Flight 24FBS!

My friends think we're nuts....which is a possibility.

But, we're excited to take out our new camper!
Please tell me I won't be buying a bigger one in a few years!

You're not nuts. You're a happy camper!!

Unfortunately I cannot promise you that in a couple of years, you won't be looking yet again.

Congrats on your new camper!! We had a similar story of buying a 2006 (IIRC) Jayco Jayfeather Sport 165. Nice Camper she was. Used it 6 times in the first yr. and loved camping. We did enjoy 2 total rainout weekends and they were a deciding factor for a larger camper. When it rains, more space is NICE to have. Yes we try to stay outdoors but our fist camping trip ever produced one of the worst lighting storms I ever had to try to sleep through. The next morning our site was practically under water. So we sold the 165 for what we paid for it and picked up a 2015 jayflight slx 267 bhsw. It is longer and higher off the ground. Hands down best camping decision ever. We love the larger camper. You are not crazy. Being rookies ourselves, we are followers and it seems like no one starts out in a 40' fiver. Your friends could be crazy for not following your lead. Go camping and love that new camper. Take good care of it and enjoy every minute you can. Buying bigger in a few yrs., not out of the question.

You will love the 24FBS. We did the same thing. Bought a 197 in 2013 and ended up selling it and buying the 24FBS. There is a lot more space and the walk around bed is better than the bed that was in the 197.

Congrats! And enjoy it.

As far as buying a bigger one....this is our third one in 7 yrs. we started out with a 2007 17export.

Pretty much the same thing here too. We have been camping since 1984. Three different popups, then the 06 Airstream a 23' tongue to bumper. Loved A.S. but too small for the two of us put about 15,000 on it and one year in Fort Wilderness the
A/C went out. Replaced the A/C and decided to sell it. Bought our 24FBS last August and really enjoy it. You will find many thing on the forum for suggested upgrades. Like mattress topper, battery switch and lock and so on and so on.

Best of luck and Happy Camping

We have had 3 fifth wheels since 2001. A 27' w/1 slide, then a 30' with 2 slides and now a 38' w/3 slides. We started out with a truck that would pull the one we have now.

Kinda expensive to do it this way but that's how we rolled.

The bad feeling is getting a new one and realizing it is to big!
