New truck tailgate issue on 2012 Jayflight trailer and Equilizer hitch

Just bought a 2013 F150 FX4 Screw and found a small problem
The box on the Fords are taller and therefore the tailgate is taller
Tailgate will only drop open to the top of the Tongue jack
Wondering if an Electric tongue jack will give me the clearance I need to drop the tailgate fully?
I cannot turn the hand operated jack as the holes do not line up so stuck at the moment.
Any ideas?

Not sure the model electric jack used on the 2013 Jaycos but they seem to be better quality than the other brands from what I've seen. Jaycos are also the only ones that my tailgate clears the jack on. TO bad they could not make the jacks about a foot shorter!

I am thinking that if the Electric jack head is higher then the tailgate would clear it
Tailgate will clear the pipe shaft just not the crank handle today
Wondering if others have run into this
Do I look for an 18" lift jack or a 24"

I have an 18" Atwood electric tongue jack and the tail gate will hit it. If you had a propride or Hensley hitch it might clear the jack, due to the stinger being longer.

Not seeing your particular jack....would it be possible to mount the jack to the underside of the A-frame? If so - that would drop the jack head-height several inches (which might have to come off the jack post / foot to avoid dragging).

Mine was opposite. Used to clear just fine with the manual jack but now the tailgate hits the Husky electric jack.....bummer...

I have elect jack and my gate hits too. Being 6-3 I can reach inside so hasn't bugged me too bad yet.

I have the Husky electric jack . I can open my tailgate , it just clears it. I guess it depends on which trailer and which truck you have. You can buy a longer shank if it is a problem.

How long is the WDH drawbar? Mine is pretty long and my tailgate clears the jack with no problems

New truck tailgate issue on 2012 Jayflight trailer and Equilizer hitch

When we upgraded from a popup to a 24RKS with WDH our tailgate hit the electric tongue jack. Did some searching online and bought a longer shank piece for the hitch. 2" longer did it for me.
