New TT at house for 2 days...busy getting in ready for first trip

We finally were able to tow the TT from the storage lot to the house for 2 days to work on it. The HOA only allows TT's to be on the street for 48 hrs. I managed to get the EMS (hardwire) installed, Digital thermostat, , Max II Air vent installed, extended a shower curtian rod, fixed the bumper sewer caps from falling out during travel, and afixed a few nicities the DW wanted in the TT. The DW did her fru-fru thing to the rest of the interior.

I installed the EMS first so the I could hook up the generators (no 30A outlet at the house--yet) so I could have AC for the rest of the time working on it. The generators (paried) worked great without an issues. Just had to put the EMS into the by-pass mode.

All the updates/installations went without a hitch due to all of you and your posts regarding your trials and tribulations for mods. Thanks for your posts.

Now we anxiously await our first trip.

You can use your house 20AMP service just as easy. I do it here all the time with my two trailers. I use a heavy 10-gauge (10-3) extension cord plugged into the garage 120VAC receptacle and run that out towards the trailer. Then I connect the trailer 30AMP shore power cable to the end of the extension cord using a RV30A-15A Adapter (WALMART). I use the long version "DOGBONE" 18-inch long adapter as the small round black Bakelite adapters always seem to get hot on me after being used just a little while.

You can run everything in your trailer from a 20AMP source it just wont let run two or three high current items at the same time without tripping the house/garage breaker. It is always great having the electric on when packing up and getting ready for the trip. This also will allow your converter/charger to keep your battery charged up as well.

This works just fine just dont skimp on the large gauge extension cord.

Both my trailers are plugged into my garage 24/7 using a 15A or 20A 120VAC Wall Receptacle when not on the road. After you connect up just go feel all of the connections and make sure nothing is getting hot. Also make sure you are using all three prongs being connected.

ALSO this is a neat thing to carry with you on your trips. You never know when you might need to plug into a standard 120VAC receptacle. When we visit our kids we sleep in the trailer... Just plug into the kids garage 120VAC receptacle sitting in their driveway.

RoyBraddy,
Thanks for your reponse. I was told the house 20Amp service would not power up the 15K Air Conditioner. That is why I used the generators to power up the AC. I will have to read the manual to see how many Amps the AC draws.

Explorer03- That I can't answer... Both my trailer Air Conditioners are 13.5K... Maybe others on here might have a response for the 15K Air Conditioner. I almost have to think it will be OK otherwise you would be having breakers trip using the RV 30A service when you turn on two or three things at the same time you are using the 15K air conditioner.

Gonna spend the first night in front of the house? You've probably heard that suggestion already. Congrats!

Yes I have heard this bit of advice from many folks. I actually will be spending it about 20 miles from the house at Canyon Lake, TX. If I have any issues, the dealer said it would be no problem. I did a pretty good check flight and test run of all items while I had it at the house for the two days.

I managed to find some time to do a few more improvements/mods. I installed insect screens on the vents, constructed a new bathroom towel holder for the towels, and replaced all the 751 key cams on the storage doors. I have a few customized mods to still work out for the bunkhouse area and mods to add shelves/drawers, etc to some of the storage areas. It appears when the DW doesn't have improvements around the house for me to work on she has now moved on to the TT. Some how I see now rest in my future

[QUOTE=Explorer03;88885]We finally were able to tow the TT from the storage lot to the house for 2 days to work on it. The HOA only allows TT's to be on the street for 48 hrs. You two did all that in 48 hours in the San Antonio heat and humidity? Wow...you all deserve a cool couple days off to get a little R&R after that.
