New TT/Buy Extended Warranty?

We just sold our Jayco TT to go a bit bigger. We are buying a new Jayco TT from our nearby Camping World. Should we purchase an extended warranty (from an outside insurer)? Or would that just muddy the waters between Jayco and Ext. warranty company if something comes up? Should we wait to purchase one when our Jayco warranty expires? Thanks!

Most including me recommend staying away from extended warranties.

If you are handy and can do some routine maintenance or feel like you can't live without it, I would wait and see how the rig holds up closer to the 2 year factory warranty and then decide.

Like norty1 said. Plus I suggest putting the cash for the extended warranty in the bank when you buy the rig.

I never buy an extended warrenty. I'll fixanything I can before I leave it for 2-6 weeks. If its a hugh costly fix you should drive that out in the 1st 2 years. JMHO Doug

Your Jayco comes with a 2 year bumper to bumper warranty.. Many of the parts inside are also covered by manufactures warranty for longer periods. Take the money you would spend on the warranty put it in a separate account and use that to pay for anything that is not covered... I bet you will have money left in the account at the end of the extended warranty period.

Whenever you turn down an extended warranty, whether RVs or toasters, you've just kept money in the bank for a repair on some other item's problem. Money is the all-purpose extended warranty.

We set aside the money we would spend on any extended warranties and use it if needed for any repairs. If there are none then we won.

Having said that, many RV owners prefer Coach-Net for extended coverage and roadside assistance.

I wouldn't trust the manufacturers warrantees today let alone a third party getting involved.

I agree with the others, save that money for future repairs, but stay on top of your routine maintenance. I have caught many things early before they become a big issue that way. I also spend a little bit of time each month reading about how to do basic repairs on my TT's systems. Most of them are quite simple!

The warranty is great only for the person that sells it

No!!! extended warrantees are a bad investment and you will be better served by just putting a couple thousand $$'s under the mattress to cover a repair after the warrantee expires. These things are pure profit for the dealer or company that sells the extended warrantees. At best you are prepaying a potential major repair somewhere down the road.

When we turn down the offer to buy the extended warranty, the business manager attitude changed. I was not impressed! Don't waste you money there!
