newbie and a 2015 Swift 267BHSW

Hi,

We are about to pull the trigger on purchasing a 2015 267BHSW but having never owned any sort of TT before we still have more questions than answers.

My biggest worry is my truck. I have a 2011 Ford F150 with the standard towing package and the numbers suggest (if I am reading it correctly) that it should have no problem pulling the TT but user manuals and reality don't always add up. Do you think my truck will be suitable to haul the TT when it it's loaded ready for a trip?

Any other advise is always appreciated add this really is a whole new world for us and we don't want to be the newbies that ruin it for everyone else.

Welcome to JOF! Excellent idea to ask that question before buying the trailer!

We have a number of folks on this site that will have information for you. Until you hear from them, try the 'search' function with F150 or 267BHSW. There are lots of discussions with helpful information regarding this truck. Caution: You'll have to do LOTS of reading and some details won't pertain to your situation, but you will get an education.

The search function here on the forum is really helpful for finding discussions on a variety of topics as suggested by oldmanAZ. welcome.....Generally it will be the payload that will get you before the max tow weight.

I have a 2010 f150 and a 2013 jayco 267bhs and it tows great. Never felt lack of power or braking. But all loaded up i am over on my payload which is the limiting factor with 1/2 ton trucks. Ive also added airbags to the rear suspension

I pulled my 2013 267BHS with a 2002 F150 FX4 5.4 for about 6 months. This is an older truck so a new one may do better. It did ok towing, but I did upgrade because it was working the truck hard. I only towed in Florida were it is flat, so the power was ok, but not great. The newer trucks would probably be better on power. The problem I had was the payload as others have said. The truck just did not feel as safe as I like. When it got windy it really blew the truck around. I now own a 3/4 ton Ram with the 6.4 hemi and it makes a world of difference. If I did not have an option I would pull it with the 1/2 ton again, but I would say it is right at the limit.

Thanks everyone for your input. I decided not to get the 267 and went for a 264 instead. It's around 1500lbs lighter and all in all it seemed like a better choice for a first timer and a family of 3.

Excited for out first trip out in it when the weather gets better so now I just have to figure out what else I need and how to reverse the truck with it attached <gulp>
