No Ladder = No Roof Access...

At the time I purchased my 267BHS the dealer had placed a bulk order for 6 and they were already being built at the manufacturer. I didnt get the opportunity to chose any options but would have certainly added a ladder. With no ladder what is the best way to access the roof, or can I? My concern is where to walk while on the roof, but I want to check the AC unit and inspect seals etc. any advice/suggestions? I would like to have a ladder installed aftrr the fact

If it was originally an option then the back will be blocked/reinforced for the ladder, if not an option then you probably cannot add it. I never use the ladder on the MH I always use my extension ladder, I think it is acutually safer. As far as walking on the roof that should not be a problem. Just don't have a dance..

IIRC correctly the swift modems didn't have a ladder option. This has been discussed here previously, I believe the verdict was Swift models don't have backing for a ladder.

I don't have a ladder either, I carry a collapsible extension ladder.

No ladder on mine, I use an extension ladder to get up there.

We bought the little giant ladder from Costco back when our trailer was being built without a ladder. Dealership mixed things up and our trailer now does have a ladder, but hey it's always handy to have a separate ladder.

I went to lowes and got a 13' multi position ladder which is basically the same as the little giant. Its folds up to about 4' or less and fits out of the way in our front storage compartment.

I'll tell you from personal experience not to buy a cheap A-frame ladder and spend the money on Little Giant or one of it's knock-offs. 3 years ago I was painting trim on my house and up about 4' on a cheap A-frame. Coming down the ladder, it shifted and I fell off an landed on the edge of my window well which snapped my tibia and fibula like a twig. I still have problems with my leg but I'm up on a ladder today just on a Werner version of the Little Giant...they are much more sturdy and versitile than a common A-frame.

I bought a 12.5 ft telescoping extension ladder for my new White Hawk. It was $85 from Amazon. I've had roof ladders on my previous RVs, but I've always been concerned about some kid trying to climb up and getting hurt or causing damage. I bought one of the Little Giant ladders a few years ago, but the telescoping ladder is lighter and more compact.

We have a 264BH Swift and it came without a ladder. After I had a discussion with my dealer, I decided to order a ladder from Jayco. He told me that the backing plates were on the trailer. The ladder is installed now and I've used it to get on top and clean the roof. It's so much better than trying to use a separate ladder. Since it is a Jayco product and it was installed by my Jayco dealer, he told me that it would not affect my warranty.

Wow... be careful. I remember reading that the JayFlight Swift's specifically do NOT have the backing. I realize the dealer/Jayco should be on the hook for damage to the trailer, but be careful abut damage to YOU.
