OK, I have a valid complaint!

Wow...! It's a real bear making up the bed in our trailer. There is just NO room to maneuver. We changed out the original mattress and the new one is heavier, plus we added 4 inches of memory form. It's a good thing the bed is comfortable because you need at least a night's rest after just making it up.............. And, we haven't even started makin' the bunks.......

I guess since we changed this mattress, if I wanna complain to someone I should go find a mirror.

I don't have that much difficulty getting sheets on the bed. It takes some maneuvering back and forth from side to side and raising the bed platform. But what does send my OCD into overload is not being able to tuck the bed spread in on the sides. Our standard mattress fits very tightly between the tables on each side of the bed and there is just no room to tuck anything in there.

We pull the queen forward, put sheet on the head board side first, slide it back up and make the bottom. It helps us. Now for the bunks. Our first RV was a bunk house and we made them up once. Repeat once. If they are kids, the easiest way to handle that is to have them put a light sleeping bag up there and they can be all cozy that way. At least that is what we found that works. (That still does not keep me from crawling up there to get the left behind stuffed animal that is sitting in the farthest corner.)

Oops I lied, we made them twice. the second time, we pulled the top small "mattress" out and put the sheet on it and slid it back in. Then the bottom "full" one, we just curled it up in the bunk area so the foot side was pulled forward, sheet on, uncurl and make the head. We only used the fitted sheet so it looked good, we used the sleeping bags after that. This was just so it looked a bit more finished than those 3 inch "mattresses" alone.

We concur with pulling mattress toward rear, fix top, then slide back into place. Still some tucking to do. But we've gotten used to it.

Is it possible to lower the stress levels by lowering expectations of the perfect made-up bed? Just wondering...

Ha,
we have had to lower expectations as well.
With all the steps noted above we can get the sheets on but the bed spread is impossible.
I just keep the door closed!

Totally agree that the bed in the "master" is a real problem. We have solved the problem on the bunks though by using sleeping bags. No more sheets to struggle with.

Making up the master bed it a real pain in the 19RD too. Get the 2 difficult corners. Then crawling across to get the far corner. De-wrinkle while getting the easy corner. Fitted sheet, top sheet, thermal blanket, pretty blanket, coverlet. Then place the pillows...




Then the joy-of-joys: Getting in and out during the night without disturbing the partner. Not possible. The toilet gets flushed twice.

Same unit, exact same situation, except it's DW on the inside. When she wakes up for a potty run, so do I. Looked at the replacement for the 19RD yesterday (21QB), and after picking it apart and comparing, we were disappointed, and went home to our beloved TT.

Just remember the good ol' days of setting up and packing up a tent in the rain, or the DW waking you up in the middle of the night to escort her to the smelly outhouse because of unknown critters that may or may not be lurking in the night, or..... and you will smile all the way through the "struggle" to make up the bed and get the fitted sheet just right in your mobile palace.

When we glamp, we glamp hard!

Flush toilets. Hot showers. Central heat. Microwave ovens.

Been there, done that with the wet tent, trying to cook over a wood fire, rocks where an inflatable mattress was the night before, a shovel kept with the roll of TP. Gimme a hard-sided RV and glamping any day over THAT!
