Opinions Please - Jayco White Hawk 27DSRL

We are trying to decided between two campers, both being Jayco White Hawk 27 DSRL and both are new.

1st Choice
- a new left over 2013
- we would drive 3 hours to pick up the camper, which is fine
- we would not be able to trade in our 2012 Jayco 20E
- this camper has table and chairs the other does not - we would have to sell our 2012 Jayco 20E ourselves

2nd Choice
- a new 2014
- we would drive 1 1/2 hours to pick up the camper
- we would trade in our 2012 Jayco 20E - the trade is right around what I would sell it for.
- this camper has the Glacier package
- this camper has a 32" television
- this camper has power jacks and leveler
The 2nd choice would cost us around $3,000 more

If I go with choice 1 I may be able to save a little money but the camper would be one year older and I would have to sell my camper my self.

An suggestions would be great. Thanks

If I were in your shoes I would go with option two. It sounds better equipped. Yes you are paying 3k more, but you are getting more. In regards to the trade, when we went from pup to TT we traded. They were within 300 bucks of what I was going to ask for it anyway. There was a couple looking at our pup when I was unhooking it on trade day. It was 4 yrs old and looked brand new. They sold it that day. Have you went through the negotiation process yet or are you looking at asking price only? You may be ably to get some of that 3k difference knocked off, but hard to say without knowing specifics.

Choice two also looks better to me.

It is 1.5 hrs closer which is a plus now and possibly in the future.
It is one year newer.
You do not have to deal with selling your trailer.
It appears to have more options.

One thing I will add is in order to know what you are TRULY getting for your trade in, you must know what the actual MSRP is for the new one, and what is the discount off of that. That could be where some of the 3K difference is coming in. Ask to see the invoice, and on Jayco`s "build and price" website you can get an idea what the MSRP is first.

Had a trade in included quote and a straight up quote from Jayco dealer in Middlebury In. Although the first quote included a $6k trade in value, it was only $1.5k less than the online $$. Went with the online quote and sold my TT for $5.5k the first day I listed it on a local sales website and including $500 for fuel to make the pickup, still saved $4k and got a 2014 instead of the 2013 that was on the other dealers lot. I got exactly what I wanted [and didn't want], saved considerable cash, and got a new year model.

Previous thread on this had a lot of comments. If it were me, I'd do the exact same thing again. I was going to be hours away from my ??local?? dealer so didn't give up any loyality by going out of town.

2 sounds like a better deal to me... and the glacier package should be a must on every RV...

Option 2 to me seems better. I like to upgrades in 2014. I definitely like the sofa that is not an air mattress. This is great when you are dry camping and comfy. X2 on the Glacier package. Only one time cranking and you will want a power tongue jack.

You may take a look at all the mods you may need make on the 2013 to make up a 2014 along with the extra efforts on your part, 1 1/2 hour longer drive, gas and selling the unit yourself. Then you can really calculate the $3,000 difference.

Thanks everyone for the replys, looks like we will venture out in the snow this weekend and buy a new camper. The dealership for option 2 has been wonderful to deal with, which makes the decision easier to make. Now to actually see the camper and hopefully sign some papers.
