Oven or no oven?
In my quest for the right camper, I came across another make/model that does not have an oven. Question - how many of you use your oven or not and for those that do, how often? The sales guy is telling me most people use it for storage which I cant believe. Hoping this group can shed some light for me.
Thanks!

Last MH I had I did exactly that. Gutted it and used it for bread storage. Of the three MHs I've had, I've never used the oven.

Pot storage in our rig
Good Day jfpotts,
Your salesman has the right of it in our mobile home. We would rather have additional storage then the oven in our trailer. Our last two rigs have had ovens and we have used them collectively... twice, in the last three years. They are small and challenging to cook in at best. I think we made garlic bread both times we used it and burnt the bread on one side each time.

We used to bake biscuits for breakfast when camping. The last 5+ years cannot remember using it. We have always stored our cast iron skillet in our oven but had to change that with the new Jay Flight as on our first trip with it the skillet ended up out on the floor. Skillet is now in the under the table seating storage area. Even though I haven't used the oven in a long time, still wanted one.....just in case!

We used our oven in our 197 quite often. We pre-make lasagna and freeze in Glad ovenware. The Glad ovenware fits perfectly in the Atwood RV oven.
Having an oven was a requirement when shopping for a new rig, which we picked up last weekend.

Well, we don't have an oven in our TT, and it was not something we went shopping for. But we have been known to bake cookies in our oven in previous TT's We found it took the chill off of the TT before we put kids to bed and then we didn't need the furnace overnight. To be honest, we would probably make more use of an oven than we do of the microwave!
We are people who actually cook in our TT though. We use our two little burners nearly everyday and we don't bring along a regular Coleman stove anymore at all.

Use ours probably weekly.. cooking bread, cookies, dinner etc...would not want one without it. But we tend to cook at home a lot also.. Use our brick and mortar one probably 3 days a week.

We use our oven all the time. Wouldn't be without it. It is a nice place to put some pans in during travel as well, so your salesman is not wrong there

We always use the oven for snacks and a breadbox. Never fired it up.
We do our baking in a slightly oversize toaster oven and I also bake in my Holland Companion grill outside.

We use our occasionally, and I'd say we'd rather have it than not. Both TT's have had them and even in the smaller X23B I'd say rather have.

We use ours every time we camp. Between cookies, pizza, heating up pre-made breakfast burritos or other items...would not want to be without an oven! I'd not buy a trailer that did not have an oven.

If I had order our hot, I would have skipped it. But it came with it. Most of the time we store stuff in it. Once in a while the DW bakes something.

We use it it quite a bit. We love having one on board. Never use it for storage just like at home, never store anything in it.

Most of the time my wife stores the frying pans and things in the oven, twice I have used it to slow cook ribs. Yum
Well be using it again on our upcoming trip to NovaScotia when we bake up some rappie pie. Yum

Answer this: Are you going to boondock or camp without hook ups? Nice to have an oven to cook in when not connected to shore power.

We have never used ours. I don't even know how to light it. We use it for storage of cast iron pans as well. We do cook almost exclusively outside, including baking in a Dutch oven. Therefore, we don't use it. But if you have kids, cook inside often, etc it may be a different story.

We don't have one in our TT. We have a big toaster oven that we use from time to time. We like to cook outside over the campfire or on our Camp Chef stove griddle.

There is hardly a trip out that we don't use the oven at least once. We also have a toaster oven that handles some of the load. It really boils down to personal habits. If your wife is the home maker type, it is indispensable. If you pick a frozen pizza up and bring it back to the camper as we do, it is indispensable. In short, we wouldn't be without an oven.
