Picked Up Our New 2015 Jay Flight 26BHS

So excited. I can't wait to go camping. One thing I noticed when pulling the trailer home was water coming out from the driver side rear corner of the trailer. I am not sure if it was coming out of the fresh water fill hole or if the freshwater tank overflow tubes are located in that area. I will need to inspect...didn't have time last night. Has anyone else noticed this with full tanks and going around corners? I also need to setup my equalizer hitch properly. I don't think the installer really knew what he was doing. I will go through the entire setup to double check before I pull it more. Will need to do it anyways since we didn't have all of our gear in the trailer on initial setup. Overall, the trailer is gorgeous. We really like it. I can't wait to install my solar system and fantastic fan this weekend. Below is a picture of the new setup.

Congratulations on the new trailer and welcome to the forum.

I can't help with your water question. Sorry.

Please let us know the specific brand of your WD hitch. The two reasons you give are good reasons (the dealer installation and your loading of the trailer) for double checking. Others will also suggest finding a CAT (big truck) scales for knowing your weights and weight distribution.

Please share with us your solar and fantastic fan mods. Lots of us are considering similar mods.

Happy camping!

oldmanAZ,

I have the 12,000lb Equal-i-zer brand hitch.

For solar, I have a kit from AMSolar.com. They are a little pricy, but high quality. I installed one of their kits on my previous trailer and it worked great. I have the SunRunner Signature 25MPPT/6/PRO Core kit. I like this kit because it comes with a battery monitor. Nothing better than being able to quickly tell how many amps you have used and what percentage your battery is at. The reading is not based off of battery voltage, but how much juice has flowed through the installed shunt. It is very accurate. With the kit, I purchased two 160watt solar panels giving me 320watts total. I will take some pictures of my install.

I plan to install the fantastic fan in the living area vent (we have the elite package on the trailer so it has the extra vent in the living area). I hope that there will either be wires present or that I can easily tap into the light that is nearby.

The leaking water from an overflow is very common on Jayco and StarCraft TT.
See the following for the solution.
Note - it is a long thread, but worth reading all the responses to understand the problem and solution. One would think that in the 5+ years that this has been happening, they would have fixed it, but since you have it on a 2015, I guess not.

Congrats on the new trailer! Why were the tanks filled on a new TT? I believe the trailer ships from the factory with dry lines and tanks and uses air to check for leaks.

Water coming from the Driver side rear corner doesn't sound right. The FW tanks in that model should be under the kitchen, near the axles. The only tanks back there would be the black and gray tanks, and I sure hope those aren't leaking; left open maybe? How much water are we taking about? Did it leak the whole way home? What about the low point drains? Are they back in that corner? Was the water pump and a faucet left on?

I checked my trailer and found that the fresh water overflow tubes are about a foot in front of the driver side tires. I believe water was coming out of the tubes and the tires were splashing it up like what happens when you drive in the rain. After a quick check, I did not see any evidence of water inside the underbelly. I think all is okay but will keep an eye on it. Maybe I should mount my GoPro camera on the frame and drive around. That would le me confirm lol

Did you order your trailer or buy off the lot? If you ordered, how long was the wait?

Congrats on a new trailer, I'm jealous!

I custom ordered the trailer. It took 12 weeks from order to delivery to the dealer. The unit was built December 16th, but apparently there was a deficiency...the sofa was missing or had a problem... Jayco then had their yearly 2 week shutdown over Christmas and New Years. It was not until a week after that that the sofa was installed and the unit was shipped. I would think that 8 weeks would be about how long it normally takes to get a unit.

When I'm draining my FW tanks on the road (yeah, yeah, I know...) it sprays and looks almost like smoke, but you can definitely tell in the mirror where it's coming from.

I like the go pro idea, that might be some neat footage...

Nice rig by the way! Congrats!!

Keep tabs on your water levels. We would lose 1/3 or more of our water between home and the camping destination (100+miles) until we put a valve on the overflow tubes. BUT you must remember to have the valve open when filling your FW tank or you might inflate the tank like a balloon. On some units, The overflow acts as the air vent.
