Plumbing goop on shower pan floor
We have a corner fiberglass shower. It seems the factory got a little sloppy w/whatever plumbing goop they used to seal the drain in the floor pan and there are spots all over the drain pan floor. Sort of gray looking stuff. Any suggestions for removal w/o dulling/discoloring the drain pan floor? Thx.

I have the same thing around the drain in the kitchen sink. I would love advice on this as well.

I have used a product called Goo-Gone, available at Walmart and most grocery stores. It works very well for anything sticky or gooey, and does not harm plastic sinks and showers.

If your dealer is close I would take it back and let them clean it.

We had this problem as well. Ours was in the kitchen sink, horrible stuff. Got all over the dishes and hard to get off of anything it touches.

We had the same problem with the kitchen sink drain. Dealer said to use WD-40 to clean it off. So, I tryed it and was surprised, it worked, it really worked.

Never thought about WD40, I'll bet that does work pretty good. Our kitchen sink has an over supply of plumbers putty too.
My FIL (now deceased) swore by (not at) the stuff. One of the guys at the "shop" told him that you spray it on your hands and rub it in and it made the arthritis in your hands hurt less. Also said it was good on apple pie, tho I never saw him use it there.:hihi:

When I called the manufacturer of the shower and sinks, they told me to use mineral spirits to clean up not only the putty, but the adhesive for the stickers/labels.

With the trailer sitting in the drive after this weekend's outing I finally got around to tackling the putty and sticker adhesive in the kitchen sink. The goo-gone worked like a champ. I had also pulled off a couple of stickers on the outside that had begun to break down which left behind some adhesive behind. The "GG" worked super on the older stuff too. Didn't get around to trying the WD-40 but with the reports of its working I'm sure it would have scored high too.
I note that "GG" has some petro stuff in it so I was careful to clean the areas with a little soap/water after the adhesive was gone.
