Port Aransas weather...

Headed to Port A Wednesday for a few days. Perfect time to boondock at the Jettys. No crowds and only need one 2000is to run things. Love sitting watching ships etc come and go. Wet a line and maybe something good will hit. No problem if no bites...just relax.

sheriff, we walked on the beach yesterday (BIL visiting) about 20 miles south of Venice on Florida's gulf coast. While we were passing a rod that was left standing in the surf it dipped down and stayed down. I looked around and the owner was napping in a lawn chair about 25 yards from the water. I hollered at him and he came down and reeled in a 3 1/2 foot black tip shark. So, keep one eye open.

Oh, I can't wait to get back down there. My mouth waters when I think about all the restaurants we'll hit! I didn't know there was boondocking space down by the jettys?

With the new bambino in tow, we're taking it easy this weekend and hitting Bastrop State Park. It'll be his first trip in the camper, and It's only an hour from home, so if it all goes sideways, it's no big deal to pack it in and head home, and I don't mind "donating" a few bucks to TPW...

You can camp right by the Jettys, have to pay the daily county park fee. I don't pay until they come and ask and in the cooler slow months like now they don't even ask most times. There is a area there enclosed with the wood post that's for RV's as well. Folks camp there for a little more security in numbers...I got some number 4 buck for my security. No blowing sand so great time to camp.

Whatever you do please do not post photos of camping on the gulf. DW sees this stuff and with single temps here in north country, reminds me daily that we aren't there.

Weather looks good after today...little sprinkles here and there but nothing bad. Should be in the 70s!

We were at Bob Hall a few weeks ago...ready to go again! Fished the last day but not much worth talking about...but it was still great to be at the coast!

What is the name of the county park?

If you're talking about the one on the north end of the island, it's I.B. Magee Beach Park. Their RV spots behind the dunes are a little lackluster (putting it lightly), but I didn't know they had beachfront, boondocking space.

It's right beside the jetty. Bring your genset. I won't stay here in the summer though.
To much traffic and blowing sand. Cooler winter months great. You have to pay county camping fee of $12 nightly.

I'll gladly pay the fee if I can come stay with you. I'll even bring the booze.

Us in nearby Houston weather has been pretty reasonable and typical for this time of year, that is to say lately have not worn jackets. The coldest I got here was in a conference room yesterday at work I think the thermostat was broken! Have a good trip.
