Power Awning on White Hawk Flaps

2014 White Hawk and hardly ever use power awning because once I put it out, anything more than a very light breeze will cause it to flap up / down. The arms will partially close up against the piston. I know these things are fickle but this one is basically useless unless you are sitting right there and are prepared to get it in quick. The retrival often requires one of us to pull down on the awning tube to keep it steady as it rolls in.

Help!

Tie it down, but put the tie-downs on the tube not the arms. Many people do it.

Mine use to do that . . . before I tied it down. 2 dog tie-out stakes - the pound-in kind (the screw-in kind are useless in hard ground), and two 14' ratchet style tie-down straps wrapped around the end of the roller and passed through the loop on the hook. Wind has to be pretty strong before I have to pull it in.

On ours if I unroll the awning all the way it will flap, so I just roll it back in a couple of inches and it tightened it up. I have made some electric awning supports for the awning and last summer was the first time the awning was out 4 months in rain, small wind and hail and it never once was a problem.
