Jim, welcome to JOF

What works for me is after pulling the cord all the way out, I feed the cord thru the mouse hole clockwise..., and when I pull it out I pull the cord out in a counterclockwise motion. Seems to eliminate it from getting tangled within the storage box.

Our White Hawk has similar cord storage (don't know if your Eagle is 30 or 50 amp). Not especially hard to wrangle it in or out, but I already have my eye on installing a Marinco 30 amp. power "inlet" with twist lock connector and converting the power cord to a detachable type.

My power cord got knotted up in the little compartment on my second trip out. The third trip I had my shore power inlet installed. I got my inlet and cord cap from Jamestown Distributors and it has a cool blue LED on the cover that indicates the power is on. The power inlet and the captive air tank on my water system were my 2 best mods ever.

The simplest way to solve your problem is to spray silicone on a rag and wipe the power cord with the rag. I do this several times a year and don't have any problems getting the cord in or out.

Does yours have the bike rack on the back??? happy camping !!! Bobby

Some people have had issues with the Marinco part not completely covering the mouse hole. I bought the individual components and made my mount out of King Starboard.

I have thought about changing it out also but reading on other website that people are waking up in the morning and the cord is gone. People are stealing the cord for the copper thats in them, beside that I have a surge protector that plugs into the pedistal and if I had the screw on type of cord and they stole it I would be out a lot of money. Yea they could cut the cord but it would be much easier to unscrew it then cutting it.

Did this on mine. Pretty simple to do. I did have to make a new ring that fit over the existing hole because the one supplied was just a bit smaller than the hole everything fits into.

I have a 26RLS with the power cord stored in the rear under the window. My 50 cent take on why the cord is a bear to pull out or store is because of the hard plastic cord covering. I have a 30' extension cord that I made up and the covering is rubber. It's very easy to roll up and store in any temperature compared to the cheap hard plastic cord provided by Jayco. Eventually I will replace the stock cord with a more pliable rubber version.

The kits you see on here have all the necessary items to re-use you existing shore power cable. I have never done one yet but looks easy enough. I have heard sometimes the hole is larger than the kit provided back plate and one has to install a larger back plate first.

I will be doing one to my OFF-ROAD POPUP trailer this coming season to go along with my planned Battery and Inverter upgrades. I want to run my Inverter 120VAC output to a connector right next to the shore power cable connector and then just use a RV 30A -20A adapter cable to hook my between my Inverter and the shore power cable receptacle. Pour man's transfer switch hehe...

Always working on PLAN B things here

Looks like a good project for you change out your shore power cable. Think the kit is around $100
