Power cord length - 287BHSW
My daughter and her family bought a SLX 287BHSW so I'm looking to pick up a few items for them for Christmas. (So far I have bought a hydraulic jack and a battery charger.)
I know the power cord is an TT30 (or sometimes called RV30), but how long is it ? Is a 25' extension cord a worthwhile addition ?

I carry a 25' and a 10' 30A extension cord. I ended up buying the 10' at the camp store of a campground so paid dearly for it. The kicker was, with the normal cord plus 25' extension we were only 1.5' short of getting to the power pole. I could have moved the camper over, but setup was nearly complete, it was getting late, and we were hungry. If it wasn't a cold weekend I likely would have made up the difference with a smaller extension cord, but we needed to run the electric heater. I think I've used that 10' extension cord one other time in the years since I bought it. Most of the time the camper cord is plenty. The extra length is good to have, cause sometimes you just gotta have it, however, if gift shopping I would get the must haves first, sewer hose, maybe a couple 10 packs of lynx levelers, and those type of things.

A portable 30 amp surge protection would be a great gift that anyone would appreciate.

I have used my extra cord many times
A few times the post I was trying to connect to did not work, so I had to connect at the post on the next campsite.
Also, I run a generator from the back of my truck, this allows me to park a bit further away.
The point is, there will probably come a time when you need the extension and it is worth having in storage for that time.

Only used a 30' ext. cord twice (so far) but it saved the day!

My fifth wheel has a 36 foot long cord and I have had to use an extension several times.

Yes. "Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it". (Yogi-ism)

Yes, I think it's a useful addition to the load. Our power cord is located at the rear of the TT. We often overnight at a campground on the 40 west of Albuquerque that has power poles at the front of the site. So we use it there. And I'm positive I had to pull it out another time or two.

I have never purchased a 50a cord, $$$$$ but still carry my 30a which I could use in a pinch. Never used it but once in lots of years.
First thing I check when parking is the length to the power pedestal.

Have carried a extra 25' with each of our three campers. Used it maybe a half dozen times. Each of them seemed to have a factory cord in the 20'-25' range. Most of the time has been when I have parked the wrong way in a site, so the pole is then on the wrong side. Those I could have just parked correctly if I had not had it. But I have been at a couple sites where 2 sites shared a pole, so ever other site it was on the wrong side for most trailers. There having the extra cord was my only choice.
